Join us for Wilmington's vibrant Pride Festival, taking place in midtown from Saturday, June 22nd to Sunday, June 23rd. This colorful weekend will showcase our community's diversity and inclusivity while highlighting some of Wilmington's beloved local businesses.

Saturday, June 22nd:

The festivities kick off at 10 AM with a parade starting at Nash's Supermarket and proceeding down the main street. Floats, performers, and community groups will fill the streets with music, dance, and rainbow flags.

After the parade, head to Lincoln Park for the Pride Festival. Local vendors and food trucks will line the park, offering a variety of cuisines and merchandise. Don't miss the live performances on the main stage, featuring local musicians and drag performers.

As dusk appears, join us at Soundwave for the official Pride After-Party. Dance the night away to pulsing beats and enjoy specially crafted rainbow cocktails.

Sunday, June 23rd:

Start your day with a refreshing Pride Yoga session at Fit & Toned, open to all skill levels. 

Then, fuel up with a rainbow-themed coffee at The Cozy Cup, featuring colorful lattes and pastries.

For the music lovers, visit Vintage Records for a special Pride vinyl showcase, celebrating LGBTQ+ musicians through the decades.

Cinema will be hosting a Pride Film Festival, showcasing a selection of LGBTQ+ themed movies throughout the day.

As the weekend winds down, head on to Bella & Jenny's for a Pride Ice Cream Social, featuring special rainbow flavors and sundaes.

Throughout Pride Month, local businesses are showing their support with special offerings:

TRIC will be hosting a Pride Drag Weekend, where a plethora of drag queens will be performing and working the crowds. Attendees are encouraged to present their best amateur drag 

Handmade pride t shirts/socks/bandanas will be given to anyone who stops by Enchanted Gowns and donates toward the LGBTQ+ community.

Pearce Callahan will be offering free 30 minute therapy sessions to anyone in the LGBTQ+ community from 8AM-5PM, and will donate what he would’ve made to support the suicide prevention in the LGBTQ+ community

Sinful Ink will be doing a Pride Special on tattoos and piercings from 1pm - 6pm. Half off on any piercings or pride related tattoos. Special deals for a combo available. Must be 18 or older, and have ID on hand. 

Nirvana will host a Sapphic Saturday for Pride Weekend. It is a women only event and the first drink is free. The entire Pride Weekend at Nirvana will feature famous LGBTQ+ DJs spinning on each floor of the nightclub and a brand new specialty drink menu to support the rainbow.

Midtown Fire Station 2024 calendar sales throughout the month will be sent toward local LGBTQ+ organizations + station will be offering a choice of either Fire Station Pride tee or photo op with any of our firemen and firewomen for any donation made at the station (that will also be reverted toward local LGBTQ+ organizations) (edited)

Being one of the few athletes that's been out of the closet for over a decade, Amos de Leon will be hosting a very fun-filled Beach Tennis tournament by the name BIllie Jean King's Open (named after the very first pro-tennis female player who was outed in 1981). Everyone is encouraged to join the fun as it's an amateur tourney. All proceeds from tickets, player fees and merch will go to LGBTQ+ organizations and charities.

For every purchase made at Finishing Touches during Pride Month, a portion will be donated to local LGBTQ+ charities.

Drinks at Soundwave will be half off during Pride Month.

It’s that time again. The city of Wilmington is happy to announce the 18th Annual Springtide Bash! This event will take place from Saturday, May 11th, to Sunday, May 12th—celebrating the beauty and charm of our coastal town. Get ready for a weekend filled with exciting activities, delectable food, and unforgettable memories.

Saturday, May 11th:

Kick off the Springtide Bash with the grand reopening of the Retro Nouveau Gallery. Immerse yourself in the world of art while sipping on delightful cocktails at the Canvas & Cocktails soiree. Mingle with local artists and art enthusiasts as you explore the gallery's captivating exhibits.

Continue your day at the Ocean Bounty Bazaar, where local chefs will showcase their culinary prowess using the freshest seafood from the Atlantic. Indulge in a variety of dishes that highlight the flavors of the sea. 

Not a fan of seafood? We’ve got you covered. Head on over to the Food Truck Rodeo, where regional food trucks will offer an array of cuisines to cater to every palate.

In the afternoon, let your creativity soar at the Wind Riders Skyfest. Participate in a kite-making workshop and learn the art of crafting colorful kites. Then, put your skills to the test in the kite-flying contest. 

After sunset, gather at the beach for the Starlight Viewing Party. Join astronomers and gaze at the stars through high-powered telescopes and discover the wonders of the night sky.

Sunday, May 12th:

Begin your morning at Animal Acres, where you can interact with adorable farm animals and engage in agricultural activities perfect for the whole family. 

Then, unleash your inner artist at the Sculpting the Shore Contest, where participants will compete to create the most impressive sand castles along Wilmington's pristine beaches.

As the evening approach, prepare for an unforgettable experience at the Mystery and Meals Night. Immerse yourself in an interactive theater performance while savoring a delectable dinner. Let the talented actors guide you through a electrifying mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Throughout the weekend, don't miss the Jazz & Blues Weekend Harmony, featuring live performances by renowned jazz and blues musicians. Let the soulful melodies and smooth rhythms transport you to a world of musical bliss.

The 18th Annual Springtide Bash promises to be an unforgettable celebration of Wilmington's vibrant community and stunning coastal setting. Mark your calendars and join us for a weekend filled with art, music, food, and adventure. Get ready to create lasting memories in the heart of Wilmington!

Welcome to another year full of treats, tricks, fall classics, and ghouly fun!

Once again, taking place in Wrightsville Beach, at the Wrightwood Amusement Park and beach landing, the Annual Fright Fest will take place for a total of two weekends this year. Starting from October 19th to October 20th, and October 26th-27th!

ENTRY:

Tickets are 40 for adults, 20 for ages 10-17.

Premium VIP tickets that will warrant you no wait times in lines and discounts on vendors will be on sell for 100 per person.

Doors open at 12pm noon and close at 11pm! Parents be warned that between the hours of 12 and 6:30, the park is kid friendly. From 6:30-11, performers fully costumed will roam the streets. You can expect fog, scares, terrors, and screams to fill the air.

No outside food or drinks are permitted.

No weapons of any kind are permitted into the park.

You may wear a costume, as long as it fits within our restrictions for the park.

You may leave the park, but make sure to keep your ticket to regain entry into the park for that day.

THINGS TO DO:

Most rides will be open and functioning these days for guests to ride.

There will be 5 different locations between Wrightwood Amusement park and Wrightville Beach, in which exclusive haunted houses are up and running. Each location has a different theme ranging from Mad Hatter gone wrong, to Dracula's castle, to a zombie fested and haunted hospital, a haunted cemetery and Camp ground similar to Friday the Thirteenth where you can attempt to escape the one and only Jason Voorhees. There are plenty of experiences to be had!

Feeling thirsty for a taste of vampire blood? Be sure to check out Hell's Bar in Wrightwood Park. They'd be serving up many drinks themed after our favorite spooky classics.

The Haunted Restaurant will also be up and running, offering guests array of scary good foods!

The Tunnel of horrors? Only running after 7, you and your friends can get on a mini boat and travel through the tunnels. Only the strongest will survive.

For the four nights that we are opened, after sundown, there will be a screening for 4 of the following classics. The night of October 19th, the move will be Halloween (1978), October 20th will be Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), October 26th will be The Addams Family (1991), and October 27th's Friday the 13th (2009).

There will be plenty of vendors between both locations for guests to visit and shop from. Anything from food, drinks, handmade items, face paint, temporary tattoos, henna tattoos, and so much more.

A pumpkin patch will be up and running all four days between the hours of 12-4.

Between the hours of 12-6:30, many activities can be found around the park suitable for children. Curving pumpkins, bobbing for apples, a monster mash, arts and crafts, a Halloween scavenger hunt, and more.

OOC:

This event will take place during the weekend of October 19th-20th and October 26th-27th. However, to make sure everyone gets involved if they so wish to, this will start on Saturday, October 19th at 12 PM EST and end on Friday, November 1st at 12PM EST.

This is more so a mini event to celebrate the upcoming Halloween holiday! Not everyone has to participate in it, but we suggest using it as an opportunity! Especially to get some new threads and ideas going!

You will not have to pause any current or future threads! But we do ask that any new threads about Fright Fest isn't posted after November 1st!

The activities listed upon were just some of the ideas! The sky is the limit here, honesty. Anything that could fit within celebrating Halloween and fall could very likely be taken place here. So, if anything else comes to mind that makes sense, go for it!

If your muses got kids, they would absolutely enjoy this. If your muses like Halloween and spooky stuff, they will absolutely enjoy this. If you looking to be scared or just have some fun with the little ones, go for it!

PART 1: The power is back on! (August 18th, 2024 @ 2:47PM)

After 17 hours, Wilmington has regained full power throughout the city. We still caution people to be aware of things around them while the city adjusts to having power again. The city of Wilmington would like to give their gratitude to all the first responders that helped keep the city together during these long hours of darkness.

PART 2: MISSING: Kimberly Madrigal & Benjamin Cho have been reported missing! (August 19th, 2024 @ 4:30PM)

It has been reported that Kimberly Madrigal, EA at the Mayoral office, and Benjamin Cho, a Land Developer for the city of Wilmington, have gone missing. Law Enforcement currently has no leads, but it is suspected the couple went missing during the blackout that took place on August 17th. Its being asked if this has anything to do with the recent attempts on the Mayoral office, as well as the deaths of Mayor Michael Todd and his daughter, Amelia. Most have already assumed that it does, in fact, considering both of the missing person's ties to the community. As well as the fact that it has been confirmed that both parties were in attendance at the Mayoral Ball. No further comments have been made on the disappearances of Kimberly Madrigal and Benjamin Cho. But law enforcement strongly encourages any information concerning their possible whereabouts to please be bought forward.

PART 3: FOUND: Kimberly Madrigal & Benjamin Cho have been found alive! (August 24th, 2024, @6:34PM)

At 6:00PM, five days after the reported kidnappings of the land developer and mayoral's EA, a panicked 911 call came into the local police department. The caller informing law enforcement that Kimberly Madrigal and Benjamin Cho were found and alive. When the couple were picked it, and taken to the hospital, it was clear that the pair had been through a struggle. Law Enforcement haven't released anything, besides the fact that both individuals are alive and will be okay. A source has been able to confirm, that this is in relation to the recent attacks on the Mayoral office. And that Kimberly and Benjamin had both been held in what they assumed was a basement, and they would find a way to escape their captor. We wish them nothing but a fast and safe recovery. We'll release more as we learn it.

Currently the person or persons behind these attempts is still unknown, but spiraling as his recent attempts have been nothing but failures.

Saturday, August 17th, at 8:53 pm, the entirely of Wilmington would go dark.

As party goers prepared to listen to the Mayor's formal speech, lights would flicker before going off completely within the exclusive country club. Moments later, the rest of Wilmington would follow suit, leaving it's population in darkness. The reason behind the sudden power outage is currently unknown, but the emergency broadcast system has asked the residents of Wilmington to please stay calm and collected while it's figured out exactly what caused the outage. It is being recommended that people stay where they're at until the problem is resolved.

Alright guys! This part will include three different locations. We ask that you have your characters at the locations you've determined.

The locations are: Mayoral Ball at the Country Club in Carriage Falls, Mercy General in Midtown, and Nash's Supermarket in Midtown.

For this particular part, we do ask that you tag the location in any open/closed starters so that there is no confusion as to where everyone is at.

Please only reply to starters or create starters for your characters that involve them at their predetermined location.

Citizens of Wilmington, It has come to my attention that a grave accusation has been leveled against me, and several prominent members of our community. In a recent broadcast, someone claimed to possess evidence implicating us in the tragic death of Mayor Thompson, 30 years ago. I feel compelled to address these allegations head-on and set the record straight.

First and foremost, I want to state unequivocally that I had no involvement in the untimely demise of our beloved Mayor Thompson. The accusation that I conspired with Abraham Lawson or anyone else to eliminate the mayor is utterly baseless and without merit. I have always sought to expose the truth, not to engage in nefarious dealings or cover-ups. It is true that I have a long history of publishing The Tattler, and have never shied away from revealing the secrets and scandals of our town. However, my purpose has always been to inform the public and hold those in power accountable—not to engage in criminal activities. As for the individuals named in the broadcast—Abraham Lawson, the Ashford family, Peter Aquino, Michael Hayes, Minhyuk Yoon-Castillo, Bianca Johnson, Samuel Johnson, and Melodie Clark—I cannot vouch for their innocence or involvement in the alleged conspiracy. It is not my place to pass judgment on their actions or motives. What I can say is that the accusation that we have spent the last three decades burying the truth, silencing witnesses, and manipulating the narrative is entirely false. I have always been dedicated to uncovering the truth, not suppressing it. I urge the citizens of Wilmington to approach these allegations with a critical eye and not to jump to conclusions based on the words of an anonymous individual. We all want justice and I stand ready to cooperate fully with any investigation into these allegations, and I am confident that the truth will ultimately prevail.
