hi!! sorry to bother you!! i love your gifs! i was wondering if you wouldn’t mind doing a tutorial for the 3D gifs you made?? they’re so cool!!! thank you!!

So, I actually used these two tutorials (x, x) but I’ll explain in my own words using gifs and images how I did it:

You’ll need basic photoshop knowledge and how to make gifs. Here’s my gif tutorial!

Step 1: Have your gif ready. You can do your coloring now or after. I did mine beforehand. Just make sure you have your gif ready

Step 2: Go to view > new guideline layout. Under Columns, set Number to 3 and then Gutter to 4 px. You can mess around this if you want

These blue lines will show up but they won’t show up in your finished product. They really are just guidelines so you know what you’re doing.

Step 3: Select the rectangular marquee tool. Go to the top and select “fixed size”. Set the width to 4 px and the height to however tall your gif is. My gif is 224 px so that’s what I set my height to. 

Step 4: On your first layer, put a layer mask on it

Make sure your mask is selected and then go to the blue boxes on your image. Click the center of one and hold shift and click the center of the other one.

Now, it’ll look like you’ve got those two boxes selected

Step 5: Right-click the center of either rectangle you have selected and then click fill. Fill them with the color black

And it should look like this, with the 2 rectangles transparent

Step 6: You need to now copy and paste that mask to every single layer. You can do that by holding ctrl+alt and dragging the mask to every layer.

Step 7: Once your mask is on every layer, you want to start erasing the parts you want the 3D effect to effect. For me, that’s the screen coming from Mysterio. So, I’ll go through the frames and find the one where the green starts showing and where it starts to go into the part that’s been masked.

Once, I find that frame, I’ll start to erase the parts of the green. So, make sure you’re on your LAYER MASK for THAT frame and that your eraser is checked and the small color squares (on my left with my tools), black is on top and white is on bottom. And start erasing the parts you want coming at you

And you’ll want to do with every single frame/layer. It’s time-consuming.

And you’re done!! Just save it!

I’m gonna assume you have basic photoshop knowledge, if not just lemme know and I’ll link you to my gifset tutorial! You’ll need Photoshop, a template (I have mine downloaded from DA), and either overlay footage or a gif for your overlay. I already have a gif so I’m using that. And I’ll be making this header since it’s the same steps for the header I have now

1. Just open up your gif and template separately and then group all of the layers of you gif together (leave the template separate for the moment)

Because I’m using a gif I already have, my speed is fine, so make sure you check the speed of your gif/footage to make sure it’s what you want/need

2. Select “Solid color” and pick the color you want your header to be

3. Now set your Solid Color layer to whatever you think looks best. Usually, I run through the settings to see if something sparks another idea. But, usually, I set that layer to screen, lighten, or Linear Light

4. Select all frames, now grab your template and drag it onto your gif, make sure it’s above your gif layers. 

5. Change your canvas size, I set mine to 540x304px since that’s what size my templates are and I like the size for headers. I also used the crop tool since I know my template size and it works the same. Use free transform to make your gif fit your canvas size

6. Then set the template to screen

7. Select all of your frames and then your text tool and apply your text however you like. 

8. You can set your text to a different setting for a different effect. I set mine to overlay and added a drop shadow but this is yours so go crazy

9. That’s it, now you just gotta save and export

you can adjust the layers if needed.  this psd looks great on any photo. photos used in this preview consists of beige, orangey-ish, light & a bit darkened photos. you may want to adjust the vibrance lower if the photo is too orange and dark. preferably do not use on photos with splashes of colors everywhere. enjoy!
