RUMORS AND FACTS:

Rumor: She’s not Robert’s daughter - hardly a stretch, considering the state of her parents’ marriage, and her father’s known affairs.

Fact: Surprisingly, she is Robert’s biological child (but she’d view him as her father no matter what). Myrcella adores her father and wants to make him proud - a reason she is working so hard in her university studies, so that she can do good for the family name. She also is very loving toward his other children; they might not be her mother’s but as they are her father’s, Myrcella sees them as her siblings too.

Rumor: Her parents bought her way into university - Myrcella doesn’t appear to be the academic type and she’s not really athletic so it stands to reason that money is what got her spot.

Fact: Myrcella is deceptively smart. It’s not obvious, in appearance or her interactions with others (she downplays her cleverness) but she’s quite a smart girl and earned high marks on all her exams throughout her school career. She’s studying accounting; her end goal is to work with a charity of some sort and accounting will give her a good foot in the door for that.

CURRENT POSITION:

The murder of Balon Greyjoy was very upsetting for Myrcella. She refused to discuss it, however, because that just seemed like poor taste (and presumably, she was questioned by the police so she had little interest in discussing anything further). However, the most important thing to her is that she is seen as supporting her family: say what you will about them, they are still her family. Despite the accusations, she stood behind Gendry and showed it in the way she best could (with multiple social media posts about how much she loves him). Her daily life is somewhat altered because of it; she has her university classes but she’s trying to be more incognito and avoids people more frequently now, until the scandal blows over. When she’s not studying, she prefers to spend time at home or somewhere public but secluded where not many people will find her.

As far as future plot ideas, I would love to develop more with her sense of courage and self. Myrcella is strong-willed (stubborn) but as I see her right now, she isn’t bold about her own choices so I’d love to see her come into herself more. A more obvious stubbornness as opposed to her current quiet stubbornness. I’d also love to see how her loyalty to people outside her family might develop. Currently I see her as very devoted to them, with others a distant second in her affections; it would be interesting to see how relationships might alter that standing.

PERSONALITY TRAITS:

+ sweet, brave, compassionate: Myrcella is the quintessential lady; in a past time, she would have known how to curtsey and waltz with the best of them. Now she can curate an Instagram page and host a party fit for royalty. She has a soft heart that hasn’t been squelched by the woes of the world: always looking to help the less fortunate and do good where she can. Although she can appear weak, she has a courageous streak underneath all that and wants to do the right thing at all times. Whatever that may be, she’ll follow the path and see where it takes her. Her compassionate side comes out in her desire to do good; she’s always looking for charities that she can put her name behind and involve herself with. She is so fortunate and she wants to pass that on to others.

She masks it with polite smiles but does her best to talk people into seeing her side - and if they don’t, she’ll find a way to do what she wants to anyway. Although she’s intelligent, she isn’t necessarily smart about people and can easily be led astray with the right (or wrong) crowd. Her courage also lends itself to stubbornness; if Myrcella thinks she’s in the right, she won’t easily be persuaded in the opposite direction. Even her own parents would have a hard time influencing her if she sets her mind on something.

Myrcella doesn’t remember the exact time she realized her parents’ marriage was not happy but it has been a cornerstone of her life for a significant length of time. She loves both her parents, although she tends to favor her father more than her mother. One of the reasons that she is so easily accepting of her father’s other children is because she knows how unhappy her parents are in their marriage. She supports anything that will improve her father’s life and she doesn’t want to add to his stress by causing problems.

When she was younger, Myrcella realized that her family was far better off than many other people were and it bothered her. She didn’t like to think that by virtue of birth, she ended up with more and better things than other people did. Her drive to help the less fortunate began then; first as a child, pestering her parents into letting her donate old things and volunteer her time as she grew older. Now she has a couple of charities she supports openly - with her time and money directly, or via her social media pages.

Myrcella loves her family; that definition extends to all Baratheons, including her father’s other children (her own personal way of referring to them). She wants her family to be happy and safe; Myrcella can always be counted on to listen or talk through problems, and she’s also very happy to offer your choice of chocolate or wine or anything to make the problem seem less daunting (and then she’ll put her mind to work trying to find a solution).

The proudest moment of Myrcella’s life was receiving her university acceptance; she had gone through a period where she considered not applying at all but that felt cowardly - she also wanted to be sure that she took her own path in life, rather than blindly following one offered by a parent. So she applied herself to her studies and worked hard on the application and was accepted on her own merits. She’s always been a hard worker in school and it’s no different now; accounting isn’t necessarily the easiest of subjects for her but she enjoys the challenge of it. And it’s a good way to accomplish her eventual goal of working for a charity of some kind (she’s still looking for the exact right one to dedicate her time to) - she’ll be able to provide a necessary service.

- In many homes, being a daughter may have meant that Margaery would have lacked the education afforded to her brothers. For the Tyrells, this was not so. Margaery grew up receiving an unparalleled education, and soaked all of it in. Her notes were pristine and her teachers always spoke of the spark that was evident in her. She was desperate to know everything.

- Modeling was an easy career path. She was approached and signed when she was still a child, and though, being a Tyrell, she didn’t need any financial help, her own savings started to grow as she made a name for herself. Suddenly, she was beginning to be known as more than just her family name - she was also Margaery, and she began to become determined to make that name matter too.

- Though she applied and was accepted to the University of the Vale, Margaery chose not to attend. Commiting to four years was too much, especially when she intended to be well beyond the status of a student in those four years. Instead, she takes classes remotely, and uses her own time to form her own way of studying. She pours over history books, noting the women of Westeros and how they ascended. One day, maybe she’ll be written about like them too.

- Margaery can become close with almost anyone next to her, saying exactly what they want to hear, and dazzling them with her smile. This works out well for her, having many ‘friends’ means having many connections, and she knows all too well how powerful those can be. However, it takes quite a lot for Margaery herself to consider someone a close friend. She confides mostly in her family, finding her best sounding board to be her grandmother.

sylva grew up in a small coastal town in dorne populated by dorne’s most influential and a thriving tourism industry. her mother and father both worked for the martell family while she was growing up, though they divorced each other when sylva was very little. her mother still works for the martells in the capacity of one of doran martell’s chief political advisors. 

although she started life attending the small local school, she was soon moved to a more comprehensive school in the city at sunspear when her teachers alerted her parents that a girl with such an analytical mind would soon get bored without specialist teaching.

she left dorne when she finished school thanks to her father’s poor reaction to her coming out. luckily for her, her mother could not have been more supportive and continues to be one of sylva’s greatest friends. she then went about gaining a degree in fine arts from the arryn school of design and then moved to king’s landing. sylv was in search of big city life and a tattooing apprenticeship, having decided, in her final year in the vale, that that was the art-form she adored most. 

smarter than she gives herself credit for, sylva worked part time on a masters degree in the visual arts when she finally started full-time work, but gave up before it was finished. sylv will be the first to tell you that she’s perpetually lazy, and lacks motivation to do much more than have a good time, kiss pretty girls, and scrape together enough to sustain that lifestyle.

currently, she works at a small tattoo shop called leopard moth in the capital but often does guest appointments at other places around the country (as an excuse to see a bit more of the world).

Rumour: There has been talk that Loras recently got into a fight outside a club in King’s Landing with Sandor Clegane and, surprisingly, came out the victor after using a dirty trick. Speculation was smeared all over the gossip sites the next day, and apparently the Tyrells payed off the photographers to keep what they had to themselves.

Rumour: Despite being in the public eye, Loras is notoriously private about his life. He came out of the closet when he was 22 publicly (despite his family and close friends having known for years) but has reserved any details about his romantic lives for himself. Rumours are widespread about his rotating list of lovers and hookups, but almost none of them are truth.

Fact: The parties held on the Tyrell yacht (moored in Sunspear) and at Loras’ holiday home on a lake in the Stormlands, are legendary and with the guest lists so tight and perfectly curated, they’re a thing only of legend to many.

Fact: While Margaery and Willas are the more obviously charitable of the Tyrell siblings, Loras is supposedly the anonymous benefactor behind large annual donations to LGBT+ charities in the Reach and the rest of the country.

Loras lives in a very large apartment in Oldtown, in the most affluent suburb. Although his family are very involved in politics, it is of very little interest to him. He is supportive of Tyrell ambitions and devoted to his family and can often be found making appearances for them at events or with his siblings when he’s not on set or making appearances of his own at charity galas, film industry events and the like. His motto is very much work hard, play hard (certainly in that order).

His relationship with his family is of paramount importance to him, as are the friendships he holds with his Reach-born friends from childhood. Future plots could involve these relationships, and changing dynamics with changing times. Loras, having no set in stone views about the political landscape he wants for the future, would be easily swayed by those he respects.

Quick- tempered: Loras’ anger has always had the better of him, and his temper is notorious. He’s quick to anger so much so that the Tyrells have spent countless hours and days smoothing over the consequences of his thoughtlessness.

Arrogant: All Loras’ life he’s been lauded for his good looks - from his mother and her friends pinching his cheeks and cooing over his dimples to unseating Jaime Lannister in his six-year stint at being voted Westeros Weekly’s hottest man alive. It’s inflated his ego a little too far, and is completely unapologetic for how self obsessed he has become.

Hard-working: Bordering on obsessive, Loras works hard. He’s determined not to give anybody the chance to say that he’s only where he is in life because of his family name. Early morning starts at the gym, hours repetitively running lines, a carefully controlled diet help him keep himself at peak performance and looking the part. He knows how to have fun, but he works far harder than he plays, much to the surprise of many.

Charming: He is every inch the archetype of the heartthrob actor. He knows how to play his role whether it’s online, in front of a fan, or at an event where he’s representing his family.

Loras was sent to boarding school in Storm’s End for most of his schooling. It was a prestigious institution for the sons of Westeros’ richest and taught in a very traditional manner - after the freedom of Highgarden this came as a shock, and Loras turned in to quite the little troublemaker. He was constantly getting into fights, playing tricks on the staff, and, as he got older, sneaking away with his friends to spend his parents money on whatever kind of fun they fancied.

Loras has been in the public eye as a member of the Tyrell family all his life, but craved something more than just a name for being the son of rich parents. In his last year of school he was scouted for a modelling agency at a football game, and cast as the lead in a feature film the next summer after the campaigns he modelled for caught a casting directors eye. The rest was history, and his acting career has been as prolific as it has been successful. He’s a household name in most parts of the country, and a social media darling, as well as an accomplished actor in his own right.

Loras was outed at 22, after less than a year of acting full time, when a picture was leaked of him and his then-boyfriend holidaying in Sunspear. After a lifetime of inner turmoil about what his family would think when they found out, and burgeoning internal acceptance and pride at telling them and coming to terms with it, it rattled Loras to his core. It hadn’t happened on his terms, but he took the aftermath into his own hands. With shaky pride he made his own statement and owned the part of himself the media had tried to weaponise. Over the years he’s become a staunch member of Westeros’ gay community and with time has found total acceptance in himself.

To the Tyrells, family is everything, and Loras is of the opinion that without them he would be nothing. He’s always maintained a strong relationship with his siblings, and has worked so hard to be someone his grandmother can be proud of. Loras has lunch every week with his father, no matter what, and spends hours on the phone to his mother on Saturday mornings comparing notes on the Reach-bred roses they both grow and sharing idle gossip that they’ve accumulated over the week. Loras has always found support amongst his family, and would stop at no length to do anything to support any of them in return. His sense of duty is as strong as his black and white sense of right or wrong, and that duty is owed to his family through thick and thin.

Sansa had always been intrigued the south. She never felt that she belonged in Wintertown and those who knew her would of probably agreed. Leaving her hometown for university was the best thing that could of happened to her it allowed her to learn and stand on her own two feet. She didn’t just want to be Nedd Starks daughter she wanted to be Sansa.

Since she was old enough to watch her mother patch of her siblings clothing Sansa had always been in love with fashion. As a young girl she loved playing dress up and would often wear the most interesting outfits to dinner that she could put together.

it was always known, or at least implied and understood, that one day robb would enter into politics, eventually overtaking his father as the next governor of the north while sitting on the Small Council. the first step to that was working in law, which robb put off for several years to play professional rugby following university. 

when he was told - by one of his father’s staffers - that it was time to retire from rugby and take his place in the stark political machine, robb was irate. he destroyed nearly everything in the office he’d been told in at the family home of winterfell and left for a week of enjoyment at sunspear. when he finally returned home, he took over the corner office at the stark law firm with a stoic set to his jaw. his tantrum was never spoken of again.

robb has never had a serious significant other. while he is technically bisexual, he is aware that it’s expected of him to marry a woman and continue on the family name - and bloodline. because of that, he’s engaged only in sexual encounters with other men, as he does not want to become attached only to have to make a more difficult decision down the road. and he’s yet to find a woman who can intrigue him for more than a night.

robb is incredibly close to all of his siblings, even if they don’t all live in the same place anymore. he makes it a habit to see them regularly and most weekends he’s visiting at least one of his siblings across the country. 

robb knows how to do his duty, even if he is still very resentful of being made to give up a career he loves. his relationship with his parents has suffered, though he still visits them bi-weekly for family dinners. the conversation is often terse, but he muddles through.

Maron’s parents have been involved in politics all his lives, and for as long as he can remember he’s been acting good for photos, staying quiet during meetings at their homes, and snooping around in his father’s office which he had been told explicitly to stay out of. He was always trouble, especially under the influence of his older brother, who became his sole role model. The two eldest Greyjoys were left to their own devices for a lot of their childhood, and Maron in particular took to picking on their younger siblings and doing precisely what people told him not to. 

Though it was fun while it lasted, it did nothing to make his father fond of him, and they had a contentious, conflict-filled relationship. They’d fight ceaselessly, Maron unable to bite his tongue or give the respect his father wanted from him, and Balon unable to see pride in a son who lied, teased and misbehaved more than he did what he was told. Not even glowing academic test results, or a champion high-school swimming and rowing career was good enough for Balon, though Alannys tried to give enough praise for them both.

When Maron left high-school, he was encouraged by both his parents to enlist in the navy, and at the time, it had seemed like a plan that suited everyone. It looked good for Balon’s political career to have a son in the military, but it also got him out of his way just as it let Maron escape the home at Pyke that he’d long resented. Maron had always loved the sea, had a mind for strategy, and a desire for independence that somehow superseded the scholarship he had to the university of the vale to study marine biology (something, in hindsight, he wishes he’d done instead).

He climbed the ranks effortlessly, due to his father’s position as Prime Minister, and his natural abilities as a leader and a soldier. Currently posted at the base on Dragonstone, Maron overseas much of the naval fleet’s tactical positioning, as well as more covertly protecting his family’s bad deals for the sole reason that if they go down, he goes down with them. Maron very rarely comes home or shows his face at his father’s events. It’s better this way, though he misses his siblings and his mother greatly. 

His personality has soured with time, childhood mischief and resentment turned to stoic bluntness, but the years have not yet sandpapered over his sharp wit and lopsided smile that is hard won. He’s still as good a liar as he always was, and lives his life partly detached from reality - no problem is too large or too serious that he feels he cannot fix it with time.

Nymeria has a plethora of sister. Each one has their own distinct personality, and several of them had different mothers. Nym’s mother was a socialite from Volantis. Anyone would say that her mother was a woman of great grace and sophistication. Both are traits that Nym inherited from her. While she only knew her mother for a few years, Nym remembers vividly how people looked at her mother. She wanted everyone to look at her that way too.

On the other hand, Nym’s father trained her in a different manner. Oberyn, known underground as the Red Viper, taught her to be astute and observational. He knew that in his line of business, all of his daughter needed to be prepared for anything. Nym took well to the lessons. Of all her sisters, she is perhaps the most able to assess a situation and strategize how to handle it swiftly.

An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Nym never lets a slight go unanswered. When your family is tied with criminal activity and everyone is looking for a weakness, there must absolutely be none for them to find. Nym is vicious in her protection. She will go to whatever extremes to exact her revenge.

As a woman who leads a double life, it’s very important that Nym be duplicitous in order to survive. Her mind is geared to manipulation, and her ambition is fueled by her ability to achieve her goals even through underhanded methods. Afterall, her father and mother both told her to use every advantage available to her.

H E A D C A N O N S

The Martell family is heavily active in the underground world of Westeros. They run guns, move drugs, and take hits out on anyone who has enough money to pay for it. Oberyn is the primary in this realm, but he’s trained each of his daughters to be able to survive, no, succeed in this world. Nym works as a hitman. She’s just about the best one in the city, but that’s on a need to know basis.

In the daylight, Nym works as a lobbyist for the interests of the city of Dorne. It was her mother’s idea originally for her to become involved in politics, but her father and uncle supported it completely. She was skilled at debate, quick thinking, and passionate about the welfare of Dorne and it’s people. There aren’t enough liberal voices on the council in her opinion, and she’s made it her mission to sway them.

Nym doesn’t believe in monogamous love. Her father has had partners across the country and even foreign affairs, and he loved every single one of them. While he eventually found a partner that he wanted to remain with, they still didn’t keep their lives to themselves. She is happy to jump from partner to partner to the point that she doesn’t always remember who she’s been with and who she hasn’t. Nym has never been in a committed relationship at all.

Nym has more sisters than you can count on one hand. Their ages vary widely, and they didn’t always live in the same house together. Sometimes they got on each other’s last nerve, and with the skills they possessed, bickering between them could become intense. However, Nym is fiercely loyal to every single sister she has. They come above nearly everyone else in her life. Family is everything to her.
