Here is why You should ship Vigilance x Diamond (Diamance)

1. Toxic Yuri

These two are at war with each other so naturally they hate each other but both are drawn to each other since they both know the stresses of being a queen. This is what drew them together plus the begrudging respect on how both of them are able to one up each other in war. When one side gains the upper hand the other comes up with a strategy to turn the tides back in their favor. This builds respect but also anger and resentment since they are losing dragons.

2. The Drama

Since they are at war with each other how will they grapple with the fact they have feelings for their enemy? They would have to keep their feelings a secret between them or else a massive Royal scandal will occur. They will kill any dragon including advisors if they even think they are starting to grow suspicious. So they send letters mad at the loss of advisors or dragons fallen in war and how their army will reach their kingdom and tear it down but beneath the anger is a sense of longing and how they will be the one to deal the final blow to other and how the winner will hold the loser and look them in the eyes as the life fades form their eyes.

3. How will it end?

How will they end up? Will one finally manage to kill the other leaving nothing behind a feeling of triumph overshadowed by loss and longing? Will they both kill each other in battle with both of them finally being able to embrace each other as their lives come to an end? Will it be an enemies to lovers story to do what Arctic and Foeslayer couldn't? Or will it end like it did in canon the Nighwings leaving and both Queens feeling and immense longing and rage at the fact they weren't able to finish the job? Idk and honestly that is up to you to explore.

In conclusion

The sheer amount of potential this ship has is massive in the ways how the characters will react to their feelings, how they express them or if they try to hide it how their facade falters, and how their story will end. The possibilities and scenarios these ships have is immense and it's why you should ship Diamond x Vigilance.

Underrated WoF Characters + some rambling! ok ok, yeah, I saw the post @ravewing made about fav characters who deserve winglets, and i wanted to do it myself, so here! I'm gonna ramble about each of the characters a little bit as well because this is my blog and i absolutely can (also forgive me if i miss a few details here and there- its been a year or two since I've last read a book- let alone wings of fire- so bear with me!) Flame I think every wof fan can agree that flame really deserved better. He grew up away from his tribe, with only his mother (as far as we know) to teach him about skywing culture, who left her tribe to protect him from being drafted into the SkyWing army, only to be exploited by the NightWings, and he ends up getting seriously injured by Viper in her dying moments (who is another tragic character that I think is underrated) despite what his mother wanted for him. From what I recall, Avalanche does care deeply about him, and wants what's best for him, which is why she sent him to JMA, despite the fact he's rather miserable there. As for his current fate of being a healer in the Sky kingdom, I hope that it helps him heal his mental wounds, but also keeps his story open for a potential winglet/arc 4 appearance. Maybe him and Umber could work something out, I would love to see that. Also I kinda like the idea/theory that Vermillion is Flame's father, and Avalanche wanted to protect her son from crazy Queen Scarlet- they do look rather similar to each other. Freedom Oh Freedom. Poor, poor Freedom. Another tragic character like Flame. I do wish she got more screentime (pagetime?) because I love her so much. She has every right to hate the world after what her short life has been through, and it's sad that it's only in her final moments does she begin to understand compassion and kindness. I feel quite bad for her mother as well- having your daughter taken from you sparked deep maternal instincts in her, as seen when she rallied other dragons who were victims of the human's experiments and began the Scorching. I would love to see a winglet from her POV at the very start of her life, perhaps up until the events of book 15. She deserved so much better, and I need an AU where she gets re-incarnated or never had her egg stolen or SOMETHING. Greatness After Battlewinner's accident with an IceWing, Greatness sort of became a bit of a puppet- something which I think deeply impacted her self esteem, which could be why she views herself as unfit to be queen, although I do think she had the potential to be a good queen. She's shown to have mercy for Deathbringer, and she understands that Glory becoming Queen was- in that moment- what was best for her tribe's survival (However, I don't like the fact NightWings are ruled by Glory, and I think it was implied she would've just let them all die if they didn't accept her as queen?! I'm not really a Glory fan) She's also seen as being defiant and having courage, arguing with her mother, who she also seems to love and care for. I really wish she wasn't just cast aside after book 4, I think she's mentioned in books 5 and 6, and that's it. I really want more Greatness content, she's a wonderful character and genuinely has a very pretty design- one of the prettiest NightWings. I'd like to know what she's up to in the rainforest, and maybe a winglet focused on her and her mother (and battlewinner's icewing incident) could cover up some loose ends.

Cobra Lily I like Cobra Lily. There's really not much to it- she has a pretty and unique design, but I do think she's underrated. I like the implications she likes true crime, as mentioned in the guide book, and I think she's probably moved to Pyrrhia after the events of book 14 and 15, and she just straight up does not care that Nettle and Belladonna are under the control of the other mind. Maybe something with her sister and their potential new life on Pyrrhia would be nice, maybe teaching other dragons about LeafWing culture.

I can’t be the only one who thinks about poor Clay is the only one who comes from an insignificant family.

small ramble about the DoD rq

Tsunami is, very obviously, a Princess- that’s literally what her whole book is about, and how she is a Princess.

Glory is Queen if the Rainwings and ALSO royalty- being the defendant of Queen Grandeur, who was from the original royal Rainwing family lineage.

Sunny is also a Princess now, as the daughter of Queen Thorn. Even before Thorn became Queen, Sunny would’ve still had some form of familial power and influence due to being the daughter of the leader of the Outclaws.

Even Starflight was the son of Queen Battlewinner’s top scientist, and the argument could be made he too has (almost) royal ties too, considering how his half sister Fierceteeth COULD become a new NightWing queen after re-establishing the old NightWing kingdom. Even if she doesn’t, she’s at the very least going to be powerful and influential, with significance to NightWing society. (I really hope she becomes Queen- I strongly dislike the NightWing sand Rainwings merging under Glory, it annoys me so much)

Clay, on the other hand, is not related to anyone with any form of power or influence. In book 1, it’s mentioned that his egg came from the diamond spray delta, where according to Kestrel, the lowest born MudWings are from. His mother sold him for two cows, and if he wasn’t part of the DoD, he would’ve been drafted into the war alongside his siblings. To put it short, he’s from a peasant background.

It does feel a little odd to have Clay as the singular DoD from such a background. I think it would’ve been more interesting to have humble Clay as secret MudWing royalty, and maybe have Tsunami from a drawing peasant background. Just some thoughts!

Glory's canon design

is very important to the analysis of her character, which is often a forgotten funfact

During the first three books she never "wore" her iconin green-orange colors, she kept her scales fancy, beautiful, with spirals of dark purple among blue constellations and other colorful splotches.

She tried to hide herself behind the "perfect" mask. Prettiest, covering emotions tones. She always tried to be the best during her upbringing, work hard, learn more than she needed to, earn the love other dragonets got but it was never enough.

Fast forward to book 3 she learned to accept herself, found the place she belonged to. She was finally free from her guardians' abuse, Scarlet's prison, free to do whatever she wanted, welcomed by her kind and supported by her found family. When she finally allowed her scales to choose how they wanted to look, they took on the colors of the rainforest, her new home.

She still sometimes decides to choose other colors, like during audiences, royal challenges, end of the war. Green-orange design is seen on her mostly when she feels comfortable, in her rainforest, but it's most iconic so many depict her with it
