Daily reminder that wolves are just trash dogs
Why love gross rat canines when you can adore a perfect boofer like this?
I posted the sheepdog article to a Norwegian predator debate site on facebook. This is the comments that has been posted til now:
“Switch the camera with a machine gun. There is no help in a camera.”.
“That can be combined! Camera with wolf-recognition and a machine gun”.
“Camera with wolf recognition and grenades”.
“Misiles that follow the target until it hits”.
The other day, some of these were complaining about animal cruelty and respect for animals. And one was also talking about how factual the con-wolf people are compared to pro-wolf people. These are all comments by grown men. It’s so pathetic I want to cry!
Stupid Wolf Hate
I'll never understand people who hate wolves and delight in killing them and seeing dead ones. As you can tell, or already know, I love wolves; they're beautiful, magnificent, intelligent creatures who have as much right to live as anyone else. I'll do what I can to convince people to change their minds with a list of reasons why we should like wolves and why we need them.
Ancient Connection with Humans Look at your family pet? Is it a dog? Is it a breed like a husky, malamute or German shepherd? Kind of looks a bit like a wolf doesn't it. It is thought that domestic dogs, our pets at home, are descended from grey wolves and share the same common ancestor and a lot of anatomical and behavioural similarities to support this theory. Where would our dogs be without wolves? Probably non-existent!
Only One Predator All carnivores must kill and eat other animals to survive, whether that prey is wild or domesticated. That's nature's way. Wolves are not the only predators roaming the forests and mountains; there are bears, lynxes, pumas and many others. So why just target wolves? Why not decide to shoot a bear or puma when you go out on a hunt?
Natural Selection When wolves hunt, they will always pick out the weakest animal of the herd. This ensures a healthy gene pool in the future of that particular ecosystem, allowing the stronger animals to go on and breed, passing healthy beneficial genes onto their offspring, and so on. What would happen to the herds of deer if there are fewer predators filtering out the weak? In the long run, it could lead to an unhealthy population as the weak ones have been allowed to breed.
Population Control On the subject of populations, since wolves became extinct in Scotland over a hundred years ago, the red deer population has been allowed to grow immensely because, aside from people, there are no wolves, bears or lynxes to hunt them. This lead to some of the forests becoming damaged by the deer that were eating the young trees, and people had to put up certain defenses to protect the trees from the deer. It also lead to the proposition of reintroducing the grey wolf - the red deer's natural predator who would help to control the population.
Wolves Have Lives Too Wolves are living breathing animals, just as we are. They have families, feelings and daily needs as much as we have. What right do we have to deprive and wolf and his family of food? Think about how the pups will starve because their father was shot before he could bring them food. Think about how sad his pack - his family - will be when they realise he's dead. Would you want that to happen to you if you were a wolf? Your children starving to death, your family grieving over your bloody dead body. No? I didn't think so.
Before you decide to go out and shoot a wolf, put yourself in that wolf's position and think about what they may be feeling and how beneficial they truly are to the world.
