Wolf 2021 Review
Hello fellow creatures!! A week ago I found a movie called wolf when I was doing a research to my personal alterhuman notes, someone put their review in alterhuman's archive.
I saw a reviews where people was saying this movie is really mid / bad. But I don't think so! Jacob is a clinical lycantrophe and struggles with species dysphoria, his parents decides to send him to a clinic when zoantrophes are "treated". The plot of the movie wasn't really interesting for me but it doesn't matter, it's movie which you watch for the vibe. I think someone who was making this movie did a little research but not enough research because even if it's about clinical zoantrophy, they put a theriantrophy in one line and did nothing about that later. (One character said that she identifies as animal on spiritual level). I think the way the clinical zoantrophes are potrayed in this movie is a very very little bit embellished so it isn't a good representation to show it to the outsiders. However, I think the way how Jacob is struggling with his species dysphoria is well made. It was a little relatable for me, my species dysphoria isn't often but when I feel like that, it's kinda simmiliar to Jacob but still different. I really liked his poem. I'm so happy that there are so different animals, and not only the wolf! I love Rufus which was a german shepherd, he was so silly and accurate to be a dog. Obviously it's a stereotype how he was behaved but I still like him. However I must say this movie is disturbing to watch, seriously! For non alterhumans this movie will be disturbing because of animal like behaviour. But for me, as alterhuman this was disturbing because the character called the zookeeper is just abusing his patients and screaming at them that they must convince they are not an animal. Which was very sad to watch because these creatures was scared and said that they're not a certain animal only because of fear of the zookeeper. An animal identity never was a problem in clinical zoantrophy, the delusions are. I really liked how Jacob's actor played the role well, bro's vocals was total fire!! The growling, the howling, amazing. Also he a lot was going on fours, I must convince it's really good because instead of using his knees to walk like this like the other actress, he actually used his legs. His body moves in my opinion really looked like a wolf and not like a human pretending to be a wolf. The way he moved his arms like paws, the way his muscles worked. Cheff kiss, mwa, mwa. I must also say that I'm disapointed that they put a romance between him and the wildcat, in my opinion they didn't need any kisses or sex scenes to show their bond! I would really like delete these scenes, there was no need to show it. ALSO THERE WAS NO NEED TO PUT A SCENE WITH THROWING A LITERAL DEAD DOG IN THE WINDOW (maybe for bonding characters because they buried the body together, but still sheesh!) I love wildcat as the character, she was so relatable for me. I'm just like her!! And the sentences "How we will live out there? How we will eat? Jacob I'm not a real wildcat. Stay with me please!" were so sad, Jacob refused and ran to the forest. I think the ending could be a metaphore for wanting live as perfect you but also knowing that's impossible so you just choose live in human society with your struggles.
