Cockatrice: Fowl-like beast with the head and talons of a rooster with the wings of a scaly dragon. Once fercious, territorial, they say if one stares into their eyes, they would turn stone from their putrid sight. Now they are reduced to common livestock for farmers as they been mixed the commom rooster to temper their ferocity. The tale of their sight petrifying others was mere a myth to others at bay but they are not without defenses. Their fangs are coated with a potent venom to most folks and lets not ignore their talons. They should be handled with care, only specialize farmers can handle these beasts. They are prized for their delicious eggs~ Known to be quite a delicacy! Though a farmer could also sell off their venom if need for extra change~

I was sent to deliver a message. To deliver a dire omen that was said to come to a woman should she continue along the path she was traveling upon. The gods had other plans it seemed. They knew. They always knew what was destined to be. But just this once… I did not want to act as a mere messenger boy.
“You must listen to me!” the man pleaded, moving to step in her path. There was no deterring her to see reason. He could see that as her hazel eyes seared, glaring at him with anger. She was a mere slip of a woman. He would have thought her to be frail and delicate but he knew she was anything but. Under her suspicious glare, it was difficult to maintain his facade in front of her. Even the fake scent he placed on to meddle with her nose was slowly fading under the soft drizzle watering them down.
“I don’t know who you are but please get out of my way.” She spoke stiffly, struggling to keep the politeness in her tone as she stood her ground against the stranger. He came out of nowhere, with bright blonde hair that reminded her of the sun. Speaking nonsense of a danger. The fine hairs along her neck rose at his frantic rambles. He was truly concerned for her, she could see that in those bright blue eyes of his, but for what she had no idea. Only that he sounded too crazy to be logical. Reflexively her hand drifted over her stomach as she shied away from him. His eyes didn’t miss that, even widening at her small feminine retreat.
“A-Are you..?!” He balked. Am I too late then? Curses bubbled on his tongue, threatening to escape, curses to those who befelled him with a task such as this. The gods gave him this duty and they knew. They had to have known. He couldn’t stop himself from reaching out with a tumbling hand.
“That’s none of your concern!” She shouted, slapping away his hand. Maternal instincts rose at his touch. She barely kept her claws from unsheathing to claw off his face. “I do not want your help nor do I require it. Step aside now before I call the police,” she threatened, a hand in her pocket. He reached again, to still her hand. The look she shot him was not friendly. “Get your hands off me,” she spoke quietly, his voice as sharp as daggers.
“Listen to me, woman. Bad things will happen if you continue on this path of destruction.”
Her eyes narrowed on him, really focused on him. The things he were saying. They were nothing a normal person would say to her, even if he was crazy. She inhaled discreetly. A bite of citrus and… ashes. Not human. Her eyes flickered to a brilliant amber briefly, a low growl escaping her.
Immediately at the disturbing sound, the shifting eyes, he backed off, hands raised in surrender. “It is not what you think.” He was hardly fazed by her uncanny eyes even stood his ground. That upset her even more.
“Tell me what you think then. You obviously know what I am or you’re just too stupid to see that. But you still insist on bothering me, in public no less,” she hissed. It was still dawn, the sun just raising to the horizon. She was only relieved to see there were very few people roaming the streets, heading towards work. Though she could feel a few curious gazes on the both of them, they made no steps to interfere. No doubt they viewed this as a lovers spat but it was better than any alternative they could be thinking.
“I can not quite do that. Will you allow me to plead my case? I fear it may be already too late.”
Too late? A shudder went down her spine. “No. You are complete stranger to me. I do not trust you or whatever you have to say to me. Now if you excuse me…” She stepped around him only for his hand to curl around her wrist to stop her once more. “You will want me to sh-”
“Allow me to accompany you. Just give me one chance to prove myself to you.” She narrowed her eyes at him, immediately suspicious once more. “Allow me to join you to your destination. I will not say a word until we are seclusion, if that is you will trust me.”
She merely stared, contemplating any ideas. If she said no, she had a hunch that he will still try to persuade her on another day given his determination. She sighed. “Come on. Do not say a single word to me unless I talk to you.”
“My lips are sealed, my lady.”
She frowned, “It’s Anani…”
“And what a beautiful name it is,” He smiled so brightly she had to look away.
“Let’s go before you give me a heart attack…”
Keyword: Party
Carter winced, adjusting the earplugs lodged in his ears. Despite them being in his ears, the pulsating music was still much too loud for his hearing.
“Damn cat abilities,” he muttered, shuffling through the crowd, eyes searching. “Where the hell is he?” The longer his search took, the more he began to regret this little outing. Just a simple trip outside of the town wasn’t too much to ask. Except Ven hardly left their quaint town much to his dismay. Hell the way he quivered when he brought Ven out here should have told him so.
“Shi-”
“Why hello there~” A feminine dainty voice purred.
A small touch brushing along his shoulder halted his advance. He stopped, glaring at a dark hand caressing his shoulder.
“I’ll appreciate it if you don’t touch me,” he said briskly, maintaining his cool as he gently brushed aside the woman’s touch. A small laugh, a small movement as the woman moved to step into his path. Making a low growl of irritation, he folded his arms crossed his chest, not amused. She appeared too old to talk to him, let alone look in his direction.
“Don’t look so cross. I thought you were” -her hands to stroke his arms- “Pretty handsome~”
“I don’t talk to strangers. Let alone cougars,” he scowled, the politeness in his tone fading.
The woman’s eyes gleamed from the hazel color they once were, to a brilliant amber, causing him to take a shaking step back. “Cougar? You know they don’t exist for our kind, little cub~ I’m curious. Why is a little cub wondering in my little city?”
Shit… Inching away, the hackles on his neck raising at her presence. You’re just now warning me! “Listen here, lady. I’m not encoaching on your territory or anything. Just trying to treat my friend to a good time.”
“A friend? A female? I can be a much more compatible match than yo-”
“Who the hell is she?” A flat voice broke in. To his relief, Ven stepped his side, glaring heavily at the woman in front of them. The bitter disappointment in her expression was clear, the hazel returning in her eyes before his friend could see.
“No one,” Carter hissed with clenched teeth. She knew the rules. With a scowl of her own, she retreated into the crowd, relief flooding him.
“Let’s get the hell out of here. This party isn’t something I like,” Ven said teresely, eyes seeking an exit.
“Same here.”
Let's get geared up with some new years accesories and fireworks!! And all sorts of other noisy stuff!
Ven muttered harshly under his breath at the annoying sound of the noisemaker. Despite the earplugs, he could hear every grating crank as his sister twirled the damn thing.
“Couldn’t you have found something better?” He nearly growled, picking up a glossy top hat with grimace. “Who the hell would wear this tacky thing…” He trailed off as he watched her picked up a pink hat to place on her head with glee. “I take my words back.”
“C'mon Ven,” she complained, draping a necklace over his head with the words ‘New Years’ on it. “It’s New Years! Where we celebrate the new year comin’!”
“I only care about the Chinese one.”
“They already celebrated theirs,” she shot back. “But no wonder you’re such a cock,” she smirked.
He snorted, cracking a small grin. “Alright alright. I’ll give you that one,” he commended, ruffling her hair.
She slugged him one in the shoulder, pulling off the hat. She hesitated, gripping the rim tightly. “Say… You think… You think we might see dad this year?”
He quickly lost his smile, face leech of warmth. “Don’t get you hopes up,” he said harshly, the girl flinching at the bitterness in his voice.
“He gave us these” -she held up the necklace to his gaze while eyes pointed towards the bracelet he clenched tightly- “Maybe he’ll come.”
“Like I said. Don’t get your hopes up for that ass. He doesn’t deserve your concern,” he sneered, twisting the bracelet on his wrist with a scowl.
She sighed, placing the hat back on the stand. “One day you won’t be such a tightwad against dad.”
“Don-”
“Don’t get your hopes up,” she finished in a mocking tone, ignoring the glare she received. “Let’s just take some noisemakers and head back.”
“That damn thing?” He said, exasperated. “Carter already got the fireworks to make plenty of noises and sparklers for his little brother to mess around with.”
“He’s bringing little Brady?!” She squealed, eyes sparkling with glee. She tugged on his sleeve hurriedly. “Let’s go and meet them already! Your date should be there too!”
“D-Date?!” He sputtered. “There was n-nothing about any damn d-date before!”
Also, what's the reason behind your motivation to create stories? What moves you forward and inspires you to keep trodding onward? Is there anything that might hold you back when you're working on such things?
My true motivation? I JUST WANT TO SEE MY IMAGINATIONS ON PAPER INSTEAD OF IN MY BRAIN!
I just want to bring my creations to life… whether it be on paper or through art by commissioning others. I love just to see my creations unfold, to expand, to show others like “HEY! Look at what I did! Do you like it??” And… it makes me happy when I do bring a smile to someone when they read my stuff or they relate to it.
The only thing that stops me is when the imagination train stops for a moment xD Then I go through another method to start it back.
Hm, is there anything you'd like to study/have studied already? o3o And would you ever consider taking classes to improve or develop a skill?
I was studying animals for the longest time and I went to college for a short time. Mostly I decided it was better to study behaviors from a book at the library or watch documentaries of the animals I grew intrigued by. Mostly big cats and wolves. I’m still going to go back but not at this time.
Heck I would take a class about writing but… really it wouldn’t work out for me. I mostly learned from practice and studying reading from other writings. Developed my own style and went from there. Hell English class didn’t teach me squat ~_~ I learned everything through trial and error. So yeah maybe a class about animals.
