There are a bunch of woefully under explored characters that I think would’ve made for REALLY good Suzanne selfors books, but my main ones are:

Courtley POV character, Alistair secondary character, where something goes wrong at the school and Grimm threatens to expel her. We can up the stakes by saying that if she’s expelled, she has to go back to jail in Wonderland, and that she’s really trying to turn over a new card so she’s doing everything in her power to stop that. With Alistair’s riddle thing, and lack of involvement with Courtley as an antagonist, I can see him being someone that chooses her side. It would also be good to look deeper into her motivations in the wonderland plot. The show painted a very shallow picture of her the same way it did Duchess, and given what Selfors did for Duchess, I have no doubt that Courtley could have an interesting background that pushed her to take the action she thought she needed to

Justine and Ramona, with Justine as the POV character. The selfors books have never shied away from taking inspiration from existing dynamics (duchess and sparrow, holly and poppy) so I would’ve LOVED a story between these two following their webisode. I would like it to complete Justine’s story arc of unlearning her biases. She believes that Ramona is acting suspiciously, but it goes completely against her expectations— she finds out Ramona is actually the daughter of Red Riding Hood. I think she’d have an inner battle with whether or not she’s meant to “report” this to anyone, but ultimately chooses not to. She and Ramona become closer as a result. I see Ramona as a very guarded person, so I’d LOVE for Justine to be the first person Ramona can trust. Queercoding is necessary btw

I’d love a very nature themed one with Jillian perspective and Nina as the secondary main character. With the race and gender politics of kiss and spell and semi charming kind of life respectively, I feel like a missing key issue is environmental justice. As very earthy floral girls, Jillian and Nina feels quite natural for this. I could easily see it being the school wanting to cut down a portion of the enchanted forest to like. Make a school swimming pool or something. Ashlynn and Hunter could definitely be part of the supporting cast for this. I’d also just love to see those two girls get fleshed out more since both of them only have one webisode each

Justine Dancer Headcanons

Her full name is Princess Justine Douzette Dior Dancer.

Just like her story says, she has 11 older sisters. Their names are Jacqueline, Josephine, Jessamine, Jacobine, Jordine, Juline, Joceline, Jeannine, Jeraldine, Jeorgine, and Jovine. (Pray for their mother 😵‍💫)

The Dancer Royal family uses ultimogeniture instead of primogeniture, meaning the destiny is passed on through the youngest child. This is a fairly new practice, but it became necessary when all the princesses required a high school education and the eldest family princesses started becoming too old to continue the lineage. This hasn’t completely sunk in for Justine, because it means she’ll be the one to wear the crown and bear 12 children. 

Her eleven aunts are very involved in her life. They act as her and her sisters’ mentors, and they are very emphatic on following tradition and respecting elders.

She has a pet hummingbird named Charleston.

Justine’s older twin sisters Jeorgine and Jovine also attend Ever After High. They are in their Elder (Senior) Year.

Her eldest aunt is Duchess Swan’s personal ballet instructor, which caused a lot of rivalry between Justine and Duchess when they were little. 

She and her sisters are in constant competition with each other. They’re resentful of the fact that Justine gets the most attention from their parents, so they put on elaborate performances, pull pranks, and even try to get Justine in trouble just for a shred of attention. 

Having so much attention on her doesn’t mean her life is perfect though. She knows her parents and aunties love her, but she is desperate to live up to their expectations. She wants to dance something other than just ballet, and she doesn’t know if she’s cut out to be a queen. But she believes her destiny is more important than what she wants, and everything must go perfectly. 

Because of her family life, competition is how she communicates. She's always looking to one-up Duchess, and she believes that makes them friends.

She loves silent films. 

She and Melody get together on weekends so Justine can practice step and hip-hop dance. She tried to pay extra to keep them quiet, but Melody doesn't charge for secrets between friends.

When asked what’s her favorite ballet, she’ll give a different answer every time. This is to hide her real favorite: La Bayadère, a story of a temple dancer whose true love is betrothed to another woman. She relates to the lead couple, but she doesn’t know if she can commit to those feelings of love over duty.

She has been sleepwalking since she was a kid. It used to be funny, but it’s gotten her in trouble before. She needs to lock her door and have someone else hide the key for her own safety.

She doesn’t believe in love at first sight, which is a controversial opinion among most of her peers. 

It’s rumored that hundreds of years ago, instead of princes, the princesses used to dance with demons.

She was initially nervous to room with Ramona, but she’s since warmed up to her roommate. She’s one of the only people allowed to see her soft side, and no one believes her when she tries to tell people Ramona has one. 

She has a complicated relationship with food. Being in dance, specifically ballet, entails a lot of pressure to maintain a slim figure. Her mother especially puts a lot of pressure on Justine to be slim and delicate. That said, Justine’s family often comes together for dinner, and her aunties remind her of how skinny she is. 

Crushes are complicated for her. She’s had a few crushes on boys, but she doesn’t recognize those same feelings when she’s attracted to girls. She thinks it’s a platonic feeling, because she doesn’t know it’s possible to be attracted to both genders. It’s something her friends have to explain to her.

Justine is usually happy to hand over the spotlight to someone else, but she has her moments where she slips back into prima donna mode and upstages someone by accident.

Despite them being very different, Justine and Ramona get along better than most roommates. They don't hang out much outside of their room, but they spend weekends watching movies, gossip about teachers and classmates, and act like regular teenage girls. Justine looks forward to these nights almost as much as she looks forward to her destiny.
