Treasured Past
Hana slaved away on the rooftop. The latest storm has did a number on the house and she need to get it fixed before the next one caused any leaks. She let out a tired sigh wiping her forehead. Being up there reminder her of when she first bought the place with the children. They had to scatter cups, bowels, anything really to catch all of the rain coming through. She smiled to herself. How she missed those days with them, Yuki chasing bugs while Ame tugged at her pant leg. Even now there were times she opened the door to their room to check on them at night. It felt as if she would never get over being without them.
She turned to get back to work when a familiar howl sounded behind her. Thats odd, that one seemed really close to here. She looked towards the thicket. Nothing. She shook her head. There had to be something there. Carefully she tried to shimmy off the roof. Her legs dangling she dropped down losing her balance and landing on her bum. She laughed at herself imagining how silly it must have looked. Before getting up she looked back to the thicket. The leaves were rustling and she could feel eyes upon her. Resting on her right hand for balance she brought her left hand to her mouth hoping whatever came out was someone she had missed dearly.
