Karl hadn’t been expecting a visit from the young Antonov. Last he’d heard, he and Cain had left, bound for who knows where. Change of plans? Homesickness? If it was anything urgent, Elena had yet to tell him about it if she knew, and it wasn’t likely the rest of the pack knew either. With the secret of werewolves being exposed to the human world, he’d been concerned about Alexei and Cain’s sudden departure, but it wasn’t his place to intervene. Most of his concern was about the boy. Cain could handle himself, but Alexei was still young.

“Did anyone see you?” he inquired, sitting across from him. He understood that the first few Changes were difficult to control, and Alexei no longer had a father that could teach him. “Does your sister know?”
