In the second and third rounds, your performance in the round before determines your starting position, the better you are, the higher you start. In the last one, though, the main opponent starts out on top, so you’re always in the second place.

It does mean that you can come either first or second in the second round and still qualify, instead of just first. It’s a little bit lenient.
