There’s lava in here!

If a monster stays in it for too long they’ll go red like this poor Humblebug here and eventually get burned, slowing them to a crawl for a few seconds. It’s easy enough to avoid - just jump slightly. The smallest amount of time out of the lava resets the timer.

The second and third rounds let you look at your opponents and their skills.

None of these three look to be any threat, their speed stats are about half of Noodles’ and only Snorpork has the Grass skill that would otherwise put it on Noodles’ level.

In races against another person, like tournaments and stuff, the monsters start out vertically like this. You want to be as high up as you can, because if you get hit from above or behind you get stunned.

In regular VS races, you start on the bottom anyway. Hooray.

It doesn’t matter in this case, the Humblebug drops down behind me and falls backwards off the screen, never to be seen again.
