“When you said we’d be hunting for a pumpkin, I didn’t think you’d mean hunting one down.” Clearly there was a misunderstanding. It did make him wonder if they could use the monster after they were done. Wouldn’t that be wrong and disrespecting the monster’s remains after they killed it?

Yurgen had fond memories of picking out pumpkins for jack o’lanterns during the fall harvest season. As he grew up he learned to carve his own designs in the festive symbol. His shorter father tended to get more excited over the holidays, using his new family as an excuse. With that excuse the teen had a feeling he didn’t completely know what his relatives had been like. He figured he was at an age to know more of the truth now.

He tightened his sword belt and straightened his clothes, keeping pace with Jean’s longer strides. It was thanks to his father’s teachings in preparedness and self-defense that he even regularly carried around the weapon. He had only been able to once he had learned enough about swordsmanship that it was acceptable.

“I’m sorry.” He bowed in the direction of the approaching long-haired man. “Is this a private area? It looked abandoned. I couldn’t go to sleep just yet, so I’m working off energy by going through my artes.”

Sorey let his sword arm fall to his side. He’d draped his cloak over and placed his book on top of a low stone wall. The brunette had missed the freedom of traveling without his cloak back home. The Shepherd’s cloak was a symbol all over of the one who would bring light and hope to a war torn world. If people recognized it for what it was. It was a relief to be free of the weight and be Sorey, the boy from Izuchi once again.

This beach was a stark contrast from the kind of environment she grew used to on her mountain. While she was beginning to get used to this kind of setting of never knowing where she was, it was growing old. Edna had lost her party that consisted of Mikleo alone and ended up at this beach. How exactly? She had no clue. But now she stood at the top of a larger boulder while large, crab-like creatures surrounded her. She kept casting her weaker earth spell until she had taken out a few but quickly ran out of whatever the hell mana was.

     “Great... Now I’m stuck here.”

Time to resort to whacking them on the head with her umbrella.
