-Ring-moat of Tooth Marks-
Yesterday (13th April) was my birthday but also more importantly that of my girlfriend who is a fan of the complicated, challenging but undeniably talented poet, writer and Poet Laureate Ted Hughes.
So here is the little bust I made of Hughes as a birthday present.
The story of Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath who he would go on to have a tempestuous and primal marriage with is a fascinating and sad one.
It started when the pair met at a party which they attended with their then partners. Hughes and Plath found an instant attraction between each other and during a moment where they were alone, they kissed passionately which culminated in Plath biting Hughes on the cheek and drawing blood.
Which I have reflected in the sculpture.
A fascinating man and one I can’t definitively say I like as a person, but his talent and gift as an artist are undeniable. Despite the ruin that followed him everywhere.
I loved making this piece.
Happy Birthday darling.

I did like the first few poems in this one. But some of them were a little bit harder to relate to.

You can see him leap over a small pup at the beginning of the clip. How adorable?? Each day the pups get braver and continue exploring their surroundings. It’s so fun to watch them grow up! They were born in April so they’re just a few months old! Head over to www.wolftracker.com to book a private tour for an epic day in the park! . . These 3 black yearlings belong to the Junction Butte pack, and while the rest of the pack was feeding, these young ones were goofing off and causing mayhem (as they usually do). One interesting thing about the black coat coloration in wolves, is that the black coat color gene comes from domestic dogs! Black wolves also tend to have stronger immune systems compared to the wolves with gray coats! . . Little Whale Song, for Charles Causley
What do they think of themselves With their global brains - The tide-power voltage illumination Of those brains? Their X-ray all-dimension Grasp of the world's structures, their brains budded Clone replicas of the electron world Lit and re-imagining the world, Perfectly tuned recievers and perceivers, Each one a whole tremulous world Feeling through the world? What Do they make of each other? 'We are beautiful. We stir Our self-colour in the lot of colours Which is the world. At each Tail-stroke we deepen Our being into the world's out substance, And our joy into the world's Spinning bliss, and our peace Into the world's floating, plumed peace.' Their body-tons, echo-chambered, Amplify the whisper Of currents and airs, of sea-peoples And planetary manoeuvers, Of seasons, of shores, and of their own Moon-lifted incantation, as they dance Through the original Earth-drama In which they perform, as from the beginning, The Royal House. The loftiest, spermiest Passions, the most exquisite pleasures, The noblest characters, the most god-like Oceanic presence and poise - The most terrible fall. -Ted Hughes From Wolfwatching First published 1989 by Faber and Faber Ted Hughes was poet laureate at the time of this publication
