I mean, I think the ship stuff is very informed by the goalie tandem stuff!

I don't think either of them is, like, a 60-games-a-season kinda starter (although Joey has more potential in that direction than Stolie does), but that means they need each other in a way that creates a really sweet dynamic. I think they're very protective over each other because of that.

I think it's very common to see interpretations of them where that care goes one way, from Stolie to Joey, which makes a kind of sense, in a surface-level kinda way. Stolie's older, he's bigger, he's been around the block a few more times (he's got way more experience around the league). But I think it's actually really mutual! Joey is a good goalie, and I think Stolie really knows Joey has his back, on a team where I don't think he knows that about very many of his teammates, unfortunately. He trusts him, above a lot of the other guys in that room, and I think you can really see that.

I also think it's real palpable how much they just like each other. Stolie is so charmed by Joey. I think the entire team really is; he's handsome, he's sweet, he's a bit of a dork. But Stolie gets him the most: that's his partner, and god, he just wants to keep him safe and make him smile, in that order. Meanwhile, Stolie's huge and funny and hot as fuck. Who's not gonna go for that? Joseph goddamn Woll is not immune, that's for sure.

I looove their dynamic. They're each other's biggest fan. They're each other's soft place to land. And they'll never say a bad word about each other, because it really is kind of them against the world.
