ON THE ROAD — About 40 kilometres east of Armidale, Australia's highest city, is Wollomombi Gorge and the falls of the same name. These falls were once credited with being Australia's tallest falls but are now relegated to third place. Below the falls the gorge opens up and twists and turns through the hills. Between Armidale and the coast near Lismore the connecting road has been renamed the "Waterfall Way" celebrating the many spectacular falls accessible from the road.
