Gregory yelped out in surprise as blood flowed down his hand; its bright red color mixing in with the brown soil that coated his entire body. He had somehow managed to cut his damn finger on a can of peaches. Lately baby food had been in scare quantity, and his niece needed adequate subsistence. An overrun camp that had consisted of five decimated tents and a campfire still smoldering caught his eye on a routine supply run. There wasn't any baby food, but the peaches would still be soft on Lowery's teeth.
Angrily searching for antibiotics and a band-aid, he opened a rusty toolbox. Inside wasn't any medical supplies, but rather a note yellowed with misuse. He opened it with the hand that wasn't coated in red, and could barely make out the cursive writing.
If found, return to Tina Bellecheuse. 9010 Round Flower Villa. She'll know what to do with it.
Gregory assumed there had been something else in the toolbox that had been removed recently. Either one of her friends went to deliver it to her, or bandits had looted it.
He focused his efforts on finding something to stop the bleeding, and searched the remaining tent. Inside was a gun without ammunition, some comic books and a rattle. Bingo, he thought. If there had been a baby here, it had to been taken care of.
Digging further in to a pile of blankets, he found no further supplies. The blood had now made its way on to his shirt, and Gregory involuntarily gasped. He exited the tent only to hear a crisp crunch! noise. Looking down, he removed his shoe to see a smashed bottle of baby food.
"Fantastic," he muttered under his breath; completely unaware that a woman was only feet from him.
