It’s exhausting being a woman, living in a society that pressures us to look young and beautiful. . For instance, with very little thought... I wear makeup every day. I shave my legs. I pluck my brows. I paint my nails. I whiten my teeth. I’ve had braces and still wear a retainer. I dye my hair. I style & straighten my hair. I’ve had laser hair removal. I’ve done microdermabrasion. I’ve had IPL treatments. I’ve done microneedling. I’ve had chemical peels. I’ve had lip injections (once). I sometimes count calories. I constantly weigh myself. ... I could go on, probably for quite awhile. . . Truth be told, I’m 38. I have wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks to go along with my mom bod (have birthed two beautiful boys), I’m perpetually stressed, and I constantly feel inadequate. The abridged version. . Posting this as a reminder that it’s important to lift women up. And women, it’s important to lift ourselves up. It’s so fucking hard, and it feels like an uphill battle, but we’re in this together. . Btw, there ain’t nothing wrong with dolling one’s self up to feel beautiful. I’m definitely not saying that. In fact, this photo is from a shoot where I’m wearing a shit ton of makeup and the photog put his magical touch on it. I’m just saying that the non-dolled up version is fucking beautiful, too. xx . . . . . #pma #youarebeautiful #selflove #selfcare #love #beauty #womensupportingwomen #womenempowerment #womenempoweringwomen #wombtangclan #female (at Portland, Oregon)
