Let’s talk about it. Black Women and White women —as a collective — need to clear the air and work together. Sadly, I’ve encountered more than my share of non-black women who found it difficult to accept my role as a leader. Unconscious racism causes some of these sisters to think they should be the boss of me because of the color of THIER skin. I even had one staff person come in MY office, stand over my desk, tell me off and then storm out of MY office and slam MY door. (I helped her see she was not a good fit for the organization.) Ladies, TRUST is a very important foundation in relationships. This includes friendship. As women we have experienced so much hurt in our lives. We have experienced betrayal, judgement, persecution, accusations all which are culprits of broken trust and broken relationships between women. As women of God this is common. And many often say, “ I do not have and do not need female friends”, “ I don’t know why they don’t like me” and “I don’t trust them.” The truth is that Jesus speaks to us about Friendship. It is something HE believed in and HE practiced and HE did so with wisdom. There is a process for building healthy, God fearing and ordained relationships as well as friendship with the right type of women. Any women who genuinely wants the best for other women is a candidate and is in a good position to take a step of boldness to receive breakthrough in this area! If you want it for other women than that means you want it for yourself! All it takes is a step of Faith! Trusting GOD and becoming a courageous women of God! If this is you, put away your personal perception and Opinions concerning friendships with other females and trust GOD in HIS process! Humility is a key to all the doors in the kingdom of God! Hi I'm Allison Zatarain from Instant Records and I watched the documentary “Embrace” on Netflix by #TarynBrumfitt and Body Image Movement. I am inspired by the message of loving our female bodies despite the never-ending media messages to only look a certain way (slim, young, cellulite-free, etc.). It aligns well with the awakening I’ve felt ever since I started the Instant Love project of love songs between women. What started out as a way to disrupt our notions of love between genders has evolved to so much more, including how a woman’s self-love can blossom after hearing a love song sung by a woman to a woman – in other words – a love song sung about ourselves. In the next 9 days I am going to post a lyric from each song that is out from our collection on our #Instagram account (@loveinstantlove), and show how it aligns with self-love. I am also going to post an accompanying #Facebook video on this channel that goes into more detail about each song and play some music.
