The soft patter of tiny feet echoes down the hallway. You’re sitting on the couch, half-lost in your phone, when your kid scrambles into the room, giggling.
“Mommyyyy!” they squeal, crawling into your lap, tiny arms wrapping tight around you. “Daddy said we’re making a surprise for you!! But shhh, I can’t tell you what it is!”
You blink, half-smiling. “A surprise, huh?”
They nod furiously, cheeks puffed up, eyes sparkling. “Yeah! Balloons! And cake! And Daddy got flowers too!”
…so much for secrecy.
From the kitchen, you hear a loud thud, followed by a muffled curse. Then Matthew’s head pops around the corner, face red. “Babe! You weren’t supposed to know yet—”
You can’t help it; laughter spills out as you scoop your kid up, pressing a kiss to their forehead. “I wonder who spoiled it,” you tease softly, eyes flicking to Matthew.
He walks over, running a hand through his hair, holding a little bouquet of flowers — they’re slightly squished, one petal hanging off, but you can tell he tried. His other hand has frosting on the fingers.
“I swear I had it all planned, baby,” he grins sheepishly. “Your favorite cake, your favorite flowers… and the best helper in the world.” He ruffles your kid’s hair, earning a high-pitched squeal.
The three of you pile onto the couch, Matthew wrapping his arm around your shoulders, pressing a kiss to your temple. “Happy anniversary,” he murmurs against your skin, voice soft, warm.
Your heart swells.
“I love you,” you whisper back, reaching up to touch his cheek.
Your kid wiggles between you, holding up a handmade card — it’s crayon-scribbled, little hearts and stick figures of the three of you. “Look, Mommy! I made this!”
You almost tear up.
Matthew smiles wide, watching you cradle the card. “Told you they were the best helper.”
You lean against him, eyes fluttering closed, feeling the soft weight of your family surrounding you. Matthew kisses the top of your head, murmuring promises of cake and laughter and a night just for you three.
i just remembered that i found zb1 after watching one of those gay kpop moments compilations on youtube, and i saw mattparkz come up and was like “oooh who are these people” and it was a clip of them from smth the group was filming in ig a practice room so i looked at the company name in the background on the wall (wakeone) and searched it up. i didn’t know what company it was so i just searched up wkeon or smth goofy like that and came up with wakeone, and THEN i looked at the groups under the company, found kep1er (who i knew at the time) and zb1 (who i didn’t know at the time. i was just getting back into kpop after almost 7 months or so since i stopped being a stay.), and concluded with the fact that it was probably a ship from zb1, because most definitely they aren’t girls (omg i thought they were women 🤯), and THEN opened up kprofiles and started analyzing the two in the video and the images on kprofiles at an alarmingly close distance, i’m pretty sure whoever saw me doing that IN PUBLIC AT A PARK though i was some creep or smth, like that’s basically exhibitionism. anyways, for some reason my blind ass thought gunwook was taerae for a concerning amount of time, before realizing my stupidity and realizing that it’s very much NOT 😭 and i think i mixed up matthew with someone i don’t even remember i mean that video clip was shit quality sooo… blame it on wakeone’s wifi not me 🤷🏻♀️ THEN i searched up ‘zb1 ships’ and got mattparkz as the ship’s name and the FINALLY FINALLY searched up mattparkz on youtube and then zb1 afterwards and yeah that’s how i got my zeroseville citizenship ig 😭
