MY MAN GERARD YES 

- oh my god i could talk forever about pitts he’s so good- this boy just? cares so much about everyone alright- before the dead poets he never had friends that loved him as much as he loved them so he always tries to keep his feelings understated and not too loudly expressed- because if he never seems like he feels too strongly about anything then nobody will think he’s too much and leave him- but under the whole peacekeeping mediator exterior he’s built up he actually feels a lot of things really deeply - he’s also taught himself not to care too much about the way everything outside of his friendships goes because his parents were always pretty straightforward about what his life was going to be (welton, ivy league, grad school, make money) but he’s not quite sure he can do all that so he’s just kind of decided that he’ll deal with things as they come and not get too attached to any one future- has a bit of an inferiority issue when it comes to school because he’s no genius but he’s also no star athlete, he’s just “pretty good” across the board- (is actually above average at rugby but again no star)- his bond with todd is really special because neither of them talk tons and they share the same problems with not feeling good enough a lot of the time- they talk each other up but they don’t push the way neil or charlie would and they know they can always come to each other if they just need someone to be around in quiet- speaking of which: gerard isn’t exactly an extrovert but he feels his best in the presence of other people- like he does this thing where he’ll just sit in one of the other boys’ rooms for hours (normally meeks, because meeks is typically working and it’s quiet and there’s more often than not some sort of warm baked good nearby) and just read or do homework because it recharges him in a way that being alone or trying to actually talk doesn’t do - loves working with his hands because he feels like he’s genuinely getting something done - like when he’s tinkering with radios and things he gets into this focused space and once it’s done the satisfaction and pride of doing it can stay with him for days- also his favorite food is a pb&j with chunky pb and strawberry jam

because @frvdweasley and i were discussing and now i can’t stop thinking about it (most of these are direct copy/pasted from our conversation)

- so consider: todd anderson, quiet aspiring journalist, sent to get a story on a group of local competitive skateboarding celebrities

- neil is the golden boy because he's been on the skate scene since he was a kid and anyways who couldn't love that face

- charlie does the stupid risky tricks because he thinks he looks cooler with a bloody nose or busted lip anyway

- meeks fixes boards and makes sure they're as smooth as possible and turn on a dime (he’s also a good skater in his own right just not anything super extreme)

- knox is lowkey a bit of a groupie but it's chill because he can skate decently and does it mostly for the culture of it all

- pitts is That Guy who "retired" real young because he kicked ass but got tired of asshole dudes at competitions and now he just does it for kicks and to hang out with his boys

- (he also brings snacks and is more than willing to beat up the shit-talking dudes because they’re stupid and also he’s taken enough of their garbage for everyone)

- chris noel is the one girl on the team and she smokes pretty much everyone in every event she enters

- keating runs the local skate shop that the boys practically live at, he gives them competition advice and tells them stories from when he used to skate (also gives them first crack at the best new gear but it’s on the dl because he needs other business besides a bunch of broke teenage boys)

- they call themselves the dead poets bc "it's poetry on wheels.....also the way dalton fuckin does it is bound to get someone killed"

- charlie before every time he skates: "i’m here for a good time not a long time"

- knox is always like "he looks so good with helmet hair....don't you guys think he looks good with helmet hair??"

- (the object of the ‘he’ is irrelevant seeing as he’ll say it about pretty much every single one of the boys...it’s also a ‘she’ that applies to chris just as often)

- however he gets Frustrated if his own hair isn’t fixed in 3.5 seconds

- pitts has to teach him how to skate bc the first time he tried it (all the while bragging about how good he was) he toppled over two seconds in

- pitts also teaches little kids because he prefers passing on the knowledge to fighting for celebrity and trophies

- meeks is the one out of all of them that can take a hell of a lot of cuts and bruises

- good thing too because when he wipes out he wipes out hard

- he gets shit from all the boys about it: “hey meeks what was that you said about that board being unflippable since you fixed it???” “shut the FUCK UP neil perry i swear to GOD”

- the man has the grace of a baby bird and it’s especially bad when he’s not on a board 

- like he can actually skate but the minute he tries to use his own two legs on the ground instead of wheels it all falls apart

- when todd tries out skating for the first time he falls flat on his face

- he’d only done it because neil had told him he wasn’t getting an interview from any of them unless he tried to skate himself

- (of course neil had only said that because he thought todd was cute and he wanted him to stick around a little longer)

- todd stands up shaky and wiping at his eyes and neil rushes over immediately because it’s an excuse to get closer to him

- charlie gets jealous because it’s one of HIS boys and now dumb blond magazine guy is coming and stealing him

- when meeks sees charlie being Extra he pulls him aside like “you’re being a baby shut up we all know you’re jealous” 

- charlie thankfully listens otherwise he might’ve gone and tried to pull some stupid trick to show off

- also: neil walking todd around on a skateboard, pulling him in slow circles by holding his hands while todd stands on the board

- saying things like “see this isn’t so bad” and “you’re not gonna fall again i promise”

my favorite kind of ask i love it ok here we go(preface: this is all under one big umbrella modern headcanon in which the boys live together in one house/apartment)

-neil is really really messy, leaves his stuff all over the place-meeks complains constantly about it but still somehow seems to know where everything is-any general yell of “where the hell did my (insert vital object here) go” is normally met with meeks responding with either the thing’s location or by throwing it at the person asking -(it’s really only soft things he throws- a lot of hats, scarves, etc., but a couple books have been tossed)-knox thrives on cooking breakfast every morning and the boys take full advantage-it’s full on pleasantville style meals, especially on weekends, and on any given morning charlie is in the kitchen stealing pieces of bacon from where he’s sitting on the counter -dinner tends to devolve into takeout or pizza because everyone’s tired and half the time they’re all collapsed on the couch watching some movie by the time they realize they need food-pitts, todd, knox and neil are all pineapple on pizza people- meeks and charlie are both confused and outraged by this but they still end up getting half pineapple on every pizza because the other four have a voting majority-todd cries the least at movies, knox cries the most -“why are you sobbing it’s not even real-” “THEIR LOVE IS SO PURE, TODD” “it’s lady and the tramp….they’re dogs………” “they’re dogs in LOVE don’t you SEE”-charlie and pitts always try to convince the rest to watch horror movies- pitts is a fan of the laughably bad ones, charlie likes the genuinely really scary stuff -todd leaves journal stuff everywhere- there’s always stray paper and pens laying around -charlie paints regularly because music didn’t help him vent enough and it got them multiple heated complaints from the neighbors -(meeks brings his research into charlie’s room so he can watch the process while he works)-they still hold dead poets meetings, but in their living room during the day so they can read without flashlights and have room to move around

neil: puck (really only when talking about auditions and acting things, ex: “break a leg, puck”), sweetheart (only todd), ‘actual golden god neil perry’, 'wind beneath my fucking wings’, 'shakespeare’s vision brought to life’ (all charlie i mean who else)todd: THAT anderson (overused to the point of being ridiculous, especially when todd does something good- he won a little poetry contest once and it turned into a full on fan club frenzy of “todd anderson? that anderson? THE todd anderson?”)charlie: charles, dalton, charlie boy (only when knox makes fun of him), 'you idiot’ (only when meeks gets Very Fed Up), baby, honey (meeks again)knox: knoxious. there is no better nickname than knoxious. also charlie has a running list of melodramatic shakespeare characters he calls him by- romeo, hamlet, etc. meeks: meeksie, steven (when someone- charlie- can’t get his attention fast enough), babe/baby/'light of my life, ginger-haired beacon of my soul’ (charlie almost too often)pitts: pittsie, but he really isn’t a fan of nicknames. most likely to call everyone by their first names and want to be called by his.

headcanons for how each boy acts when sick? and how the others respond to it and help? thank you!

never considered this but now that you mention it i have a lot of Thoughts so

-neil is probably the chillest when he’s sick like boy just probably sleeps a lot and watches a lot of bad daytime tv-despite this meeks insists on “taking care” of him which mostly consists of worrying and repeatedly asking if he needs anything (the answer is always no)-in fact the only difference between sick neil and not sick neil is how much he hangs on todd because when he’s sick he’s constantly asking for his bf to come be with him (todd gets sick a lot this way)-speaking of sick todd!!! poor thing just kinda turns into a ghost honestly he gets real quiet and his anxiety gets turned up to ten because he feels like he’s a burden which is a Big Fear of his -neil actively spends a lot of time with him and talking to him and reminding him it’s ok to need things from people- there’s also a lot of soup involved because Comfort -charlie is a diva when sick. surprise surprise.-lots of badgering meeks for food and blankets and medicine, and if meeks sends pitts or someone else to go do whatever it is then there’s whining nonstop -“meeks…meeksie………steven…” “i have a FINAL tomorrow charlie ask someone else to go get you cough drops” “but you do it best”-he milks the sickness for all it’s worth too; if he’s 99% better he’s still gonna take advantage of the 1% cough to be needy-(meeks loves it despite all his complaining it makes him feel needed)-knox is similar to charlie but less “give me things” dramatic and more “this is The End” dramatic -he could have a sore throat and he’d be just as worried as if it was pneumonia -“this is it….better say my goodbyes now…..it was nice knowing you all, but The Plague is going to take me and i must get my affairs in order”-thankfully he’s very rarely sick or else the rest of the boys would go insane from the doomsaying -meeks has two ways he can go when sick: he’s normally extra Touchy and snaps at people and is very overproductive to compensate for feeling gross-but if he’s too sick to physically get up and do anything he gets anxious and antsy and starts overthinking all the things he’ll have to catch up on later/could be doing if he wasn’t sick -pitts and charlie are the ones that worry most about it, but pitts does more to try and talk meeks down from it because charlie gets equally worked up -probably gets sick most frequently out of all of them too, because he’s always the one trying to make sure everyone’s ok when they’re ill and so he catches everything out of proximity-pitts Does Not Want anyone around him when he’s sick, in part because he doesn’t feel good and trying to hold a conversation is exhausting but mostly because he doesn’t want anyone else getting sick -he cares about his boys too much and always feels guilty when meeks catches his sicknesses (because despite all pitts’s protests, meeks always ends up next to him on whatever couch/bed/anything with fluids and a movie and a stern “i’m not letting you sit here and wallow you’re gonna feel better whether you like it or not”)-(he always feels a bit better pretty much immediately when that happens)
