Some little furniture story.

As I wrote last time – every craftsman should have own workshop, and every workshop need tools, furnitures and other things that make work possible. Maybe it's not much because it's only a shelf and table, but Bruno seems to be very possitive suprised. Do you see this wonderful happiness smile on his face?

Ok so, I already told you that Loki is a professor of semantics in my human!au But what about Thor? Well, he works with wood. He has a small, cozy workshop that smells like fairytales and a bit of pixie dust. He can go from ripping a whole stump in half with his bare hands to sitting for hours working on one small piece of deco to place on the edge of a coffee table. He’s got the strongest “fixer” attitude, a bright, gentle “let me” aura all over him, he always carries a couple of tools with him - just in case. Loki scolds him frequently for his tendency to undercharge people for his work.

How to be Unproductively Productive (I made a thing!) [Avis Opugno!]

Sooo... I did a thing. This sunday was a wood workshop that my mum got me and while I wasn’t actually looking forward to it that much... it turned out to be a grand time.

I spend the nine hours making a wand instead of something productive, like the others... bowls and stuff. I couldn’t do things I’d actually need, right? Nooo, Tia had to go and be a Nerd.

It was my first time working with wood in any capacity, and I think for that, this darling turned out not too bad. It’s about as long as my arm - nothing to take with you easily, but I’m almost certain it’s going to get a place of honour in my dorm.

If you look closely, you can probably see that it isn’t finished yet: The end of the handle is stil rough and I want to carve some more decorations, also up to the tip. And even though it’s plum wood and not particularly soft I’m also going to try and burn some runes and such into it. I have the equipment - and it’s definitely worth a try, I think.

“S” woodcut thumbnails

My short trip back to Bahrain was an opportunity to take photos of the woodcut that could fit it in an artistic context. The word was slip up, and from the photoshoot I found that hanging off the letters from a palm tree (like a decorated Christmas tree) would be a cool concept since every letter has a chance of slipping off of the tree, and slipping up. I personally preferred the brown, natural wood side of the cut out, and I think its ironic to photograph it next to another tree as well, even though they aren’t the same kind of tree. 

I could pitch this to my group and ask if they would want to lend me their letters over Christmas break so that I could take photographs of them for them too. I’l also see what ideas they have as well since I already hav one or two photos that I feel are strong enough on their own.
