Very old and rustic dough bowl. Hand made some 150 years ago of a single piece of wood. Rustic wood dough bowl. It has been made by hand from a solid piece of wood around 150 years ago. This wood dough bowl is from Stara Planina (Bulgaria). In the Bulgarian folk beliefs this kind of dough bowls have special place. According to story they must be made of elm, hornbeam or other wood, which is believed to have the power to chase away evil spirits. The trough is inharited from father to son; new trough is made when one of the children get separated from their father and build their own home. Then they make a new trough, which thurify put on a skewer, sprinkle water and so on.. If this artifact is not sanctified this way, it is regarded as a simple bed. Old (father's) trough remain in their father's house, which usually remains for the smallest brother. This antique dough bowl ( trough ) may be a great rustic decor for home. It holds the spirit of an old time sacrified artifact.
