The simple story (but I beg you read the longer one after🙏🙇♂️): go to @mainlandpokeshop today on #smallbusinesssaturday where ALL proceeds will benefit the recovery efforts of the incredibly destructive+devastating #woosleyfire. The longer story: my friend, the owner of Mainland Poke, didn’t ask me to relay this part (+he wouldn’t either) at all but I think the backstory+motivation is worthwhile to give some perspective of his compassion. His parents were one of SO many that also lost their home+everything in the fire (they’re thankfully, alright)... I found this out right when we asked me to post this 3 days ago, but the immediate follow up to that was, “...trying to help all the people who lost everything.” His parents lost their house, and (knowing him and how close he is to his parents) it goes without saying that he has been helping them out... BUT I was pretty moved that his main focus was for EVERYONE that also lost everything too. That may not mean much to anyone else, but that means fucking EVERYTHING to me. He doesn’t have to worry about everyone else, but he wants to. This is not just another fundraiser. It’s a call to action to help a community of people his parents are also part of, and he’s trying to use what influence he has to affect as much positive change to as many people as possible. And honestly, sometimes we’re so caught up in our own lives it IS hard for us to pay attention to people other than ourselves (or maybe it’s just me), and I’m just so fucking inspired by his unconditional commitment to help and hopefully have you guys stop by today help his efforts too 🙏 (at Mainland Poke) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bqkw2oghigy/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=jsc6cj5qen0b
