@388s gets a woosung!
it's hard - life, that is. what once was a brilliant decision made from hard work, a built-up savings account and a ton of loans has ended with you, alone, within the walls of your own debt. you work overtime and a second job on top of that, spread so thin that you feel like you're constantly on the brink of something terrible, feet 'pon the ledge as you look down at the city below. one gust of wind and you're gone. just one.
your cigarette burns as smoke fills the air, the taste of nicotine heavy 'pon your tongue. it coats your mouth, your teeth; you take another drag of it. and another. you do so 'til the filter begins to singe, emitting the scent of melted plastic as it burns your fingers. only then do you flick it to the ground, battered shoe stepping on it as you shift to start putting your helmet back 'pon your head.
you don't make that far, though. no, it's just your luck that someone foolishly hits the side of your bike, enough so that it topples over, the front tire bending at a odd angle that has you wincing, a price tag appearing in your mind like a bad omen. the person runs off before you can say much but that doesn't stop you from moving from the wall you had been leaning against to yell at him. " hey! hey!! you've got to be kidding me.. get back here, you.. you motherfucker!! "
when the guy makes no effort to come back, you sigh, loud and coated with fatigue. your hand slides down face as you curse beneath your breath. the bike would need to be repaired.. which would eat into your very limited funds.. and cause you to delay your nightly deliveries 'til it's fixed. it ruined everything. your hand covers your mouth as you let out a muffled scream, looking up midway to see a guy standing close by. the scream dies within your throat as you cough, a poor attempt to ease the tension.
" uh. " you straighten up, hand moves to your hair, fingers cascading through greasy locks. an awkward smile is worn, strained and about to shatter as you look around before gaze falls back onto him. " sorry.. life, right? it's always something.. "
