Weird wordification. You'll want.
Weird wordification. You’ll want.
Dear reader,
Today’s wordification talks about the gentle care that many users of the English language display when addressing something that you want. Most of the time you don’t even know that you want it, but they’ll point you to it. It’s a mode of expressing that I have mostly encountered in North America.
The word in this case is: you’ll want. When you drive somewhere and someone is next to…

Weird wordification. Old skool.
Weird wordification. Old skool.
Dear reader,
Welcome to another post in Weird wordification. This time I want to talk about something real that’s really not so real as it might look.
Probably everyone has heard the expression Old Skool. A reference to days gone by where walkmans (MP3-players with cassettes) ruled the street view. When there only were dumb phones with smart users (which doesn’t mean that smart phones nowadays…

do these opening paragraphs make me look fat?
Online education at the post-secondary level has transitioned from the fringes to center stage of many course catalogs. Students rely on the flexibility offered by the untethered format and it gives those who cannot attend traditional classes due to extenuating circumstances a chance to advance their careers or develop new skills. This lies at the core of my desire to instruct via the online format: helping those who may have been disenfranchised in the past gain a foothold on a better future.
Though the myriad advantages of online courses may be taken up by any student regardless of personal circumstance, it is the student for which online is the only option that motivates me to move outside of the confines of the traditional classroom. As a graduate student with a full-time career, it was the online options that allowed me to finish my degree without having to put the rest of my life on hold. This means that I:
retained existing earning power by not leaving the work force,
gained greater earning power through furthering my education, and
could apply my coursework in real-time rather than the traditional model of training then doing. This dual path is of great advantage to many students.
