But dude I really am glad to be back working in a research environment cause its so much of a healthier NORMAL vibe compared to the corporate capitalist landscape shit is so drenched in. Just do your part, its assumed you are doing the most to your ability and you can learn to do more but you don't have to, stupid rules around "distraction" or whatever dont matter so long as you are working in the way most efficient for you, much more close nit, much less issues with transphobia and shit, much more chill people, general expectation for weird and eccentric folk on the account researchers are all like that to some level.
Its honestly a breath of fresh air. I even got taken out (of work early) to a REALLY good Chinese restaraunt where we ate in the Proper Chinese Way of sharing every entree which was amazing to celebrate a guy's retirement that I literally just met XD Plus I'm getting my hysterectomy on Friday and everyone is just like "bro let us know if you need more time off to recover" despite being only here for two days
Everyone knows I'm Crazy TM cause we all are to some degree and my extremely loud, boisterous, and confident nature by default isn't rejected really cause whatever typical strange research folk.
So much nicer - plus XIV is over there like OH FUCK DRIVING IN THE MORNING IS SO NICE and then I get out in the morning and Im like OH FUCK THERE ARE SO MANY BIRDS THIS EARLY IN THE MORNING
So I guess we are also official morning people XD
Plus I get access to the university's research database, plus I apparently will get mentioned in acknowledgements of papers at the VERY least which is COOL.
