We recently stopped by our new favorite neighborhood haunt, Sprout. Located in Williamsburg, Sprout offers floral arrangements and unique greenery.
We brought over our favorite ceramic potters (available ins tore and online and had a quick chat with proprietor, Tassy Zimmerman about her favorite urban gardens + tips for maintaining your plants.

Mociun: Thanks for taking the time to meet with us! We’re obsessed with the plants and flowers you stock. Tell us about your personal collection of planters and plants.
Sprout: I love handmade pottery with interesting textures and colors. I also like incorporating simple white, modern pots.
Mociun: Are you noticing any trends in plants? What are you some client favorites?
Sprout: Succulents are always popular, as are airplants and ferns/mosses. I love hanging plants such as hoya and lipstick plants.
Mociun: Us too! That airplant in our Chen and Kai avocado planter looks great. Have you seen any cool gardens in the hood?
Sprout: Green Dome gardens is a beautiful community garden in McCarren Park.
Mociun: So, any tips on urban garden?
Sprout: Don't be afraid to make mistakes! Some plants will thrive, others will fail. Just learn from your mistakes and keep at it!
Mociun: What should we look for in a planter?
Sprout: Drain holes are ideal. Also make sure the planter is large enough to accommodate the existing plant size (2-3" bigger would be better).
Mocin: Noted! What are you favorite mociun ceramics?
Sprout: I love the simple styles with splash of color. Bold geometric patterns are great too.
