My business hero, Stephen Tindall, once said that a great person with an average idea is far more likely to succeed than an average person with a great idea. So keeping quality people matters most.

Several well developed countries are now worrying about the economic impacts of their demographic trend as their population is getting older. Facts clearly do not support a pessimistic view. The conclusion seems unavoidable: the trend does go one way, income increases while fertility and population growth decrease. Why then some think that economic growth calls for population growth? Isn’t it better to invest in workforce quality, especially on education, basic skills development, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy for leading to increased productivity, real wages and income?
