ATTENTION HIGHSCHOOL FRESHMEN OF TUMBLR
I remember freshman year of Highschool I watched this video about these seniors and what they would say to their freshmen selves, 99% of them said they wish they could tell themselves to study more and pay more attention, me being the naive person I was, didn’t really care for my grades, I didn’t study, I’d wait till last minute, I wouldn’t even do homework most the time, and I thought to myself watching the video “this is stupid it doesn’t matter.” I’m a junior now and I’m graduating next December, a semester early, if I would’ve studied and did what I was supposed to do freshmen year I would likely have either close to a 4.0 gpa or higher, I mean my gpa isn’t that bad right now, a 3.45, but how I wish I could slap freshman me and tell myself to get organized and do my shit.
So if you are a freshman and you hear all these seniors talking about how they wish they tried harder and studied and did their work instead of playing during their freshmen year, do not roll your eyes and say fuck that, like I did, fucking listen to them and get your shit together because before you know it life and college and work is catching up on you.
Note: I understand mental health and I know that it is a huge factor of a lot of people’s decisions with their work and participation, I have adhd, depression and a lot of other things that did and still do affect me, but please learn new coping mechanisms, find your correct study/work habit(ex. I need at least a two hour break before I begin studying and doing homework, so at 6 pm I begin working and it’s easier for me to focus after I got what I wanted to do out of the way), listen to music, look online for flash cards and quizzes, look up pictures for what you’re studying, listen to songs about the topic at hand, there are many study habits and not all of them is for everyone, so find your own study habit, find your routine that helps you the most mentally and emotionally, make sure you drink water and do what you need to to keep your mental health at best, even if that means taking a day or two off of school for a mental health break(believe me I’ve had many of those.) stay strong I promise you can do it.
