Pre- ISSEA Tournament
Just like last year, we had a pre-ISSEA tournament in which we mimic the actual ISSEA tournament so to get used to playing as a team, being tired and just having the general tournament atmosphere. We have not really played together as a travel team together as much as last year and that is why this tournament was extremely important. All our games went really smoothly as we applied all the attacking and defending strategies that we have been discussing. However, I am a bit annoyed though as it seems like not everyone in the team wants ‘it’ equally. I do not know how to describe ‘it’ properly in words but I shall try. When I say ‘it’ I mean several things- sometimes I do not think we all want to play as a ‘TEAM’, sometimes I think we do not fight for the ball as much as other players on the team do. It can be frustrating when you are the only one trying as hard or concentrating as much. I guess this is all there because we have not played together for a long time and maybe it is just nerves but I just wished we all fought as hard. Also, last year’s team was just really close and I guess all this is also sort of happening because we do not trust each other as strongly as last year. I’m hoping the ISSEA experience will bring us closer.
Moreover, the pre-ISSEA tournament did not end as well as we had to postpone our game on Sunday due to a heat wave warning. We have all been playing in the heat all season and I am hoping we can use this as an advantage in ISSEA since we are so used to playing in such humid and hot conditions, the cold in Harare will help us greatly! Starting the countdown to ISSEA- I cannot wait!
