Post from PCOO: WALANG PASOK The Palace announced the suspension of work in government offices and classes in public schools at all levels in Regions I, II, III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, Cordillera Administrative Region and the National Capital Region tomorrow, November 13, 2020, Friday upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque said that agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services. “We leave the suspension of work for private companies, offices, and schools to the discretion of their respective heads. We ask the public to continue their regular monitoring of weather advisories and government announcements, to stay indoors, and to keep safe and dry,” Sec. In least expected moment, I was invited to a simple dinner last night, prepared by Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) at Mt. Sabrina Resort in GenSan. As I have expected, it was a perfect opportunity to share to Sec. Martin Andanar the real issues in the ground and how can Duterte administration address these problems. Sec. Andanar shared about the changes made in his office, clarified some issues they have managed, the role of citizen journalism and the power of social media, and asked for recommendations on how to improve their services to the public. Moreover, he wanted the information to go down up to the grassroots level. Along with other Duterte volunteers during last year's election, we shared stories of volunteerism and other relevant issues to Sec Andanar to let him know what's happening in Region 12. "Hindi pa rin ramdam ang pagbabago," said Arnel Corpuz, a former OFW and volunteer during the campaign. "We should ask the people in the grassroots if they felt the changes that our president have promised last year. We should engage them and support their needs." Arnel also pointed out the importance of two-way communication and how the present administration should be more responsive to its citizens.
