Obviously, I agree that W&K aren't that interested in their jobs, but very interested in the perks of their job. That said, I think that although the tours reflect exceptionally well on Britain as a player on the world stage, I question how much capital that raises at home. I'm going out on a limb here and put forth the idea that Brits themselves don't particularly care about the tours and how such tours reflect on Britain. Anne, Sophie, Edward, Charles, and Camilla care because they think globally. But the Wales? Nah. Their coms can control the small meet and greets in seaside towns and woolen mills, and by this point, they've trained the public to go bonkers if they appear more than once a week. I think the trip to the Caribbean really scarred them. For once, they read the room completely wrong (no matter how many pretty dresses Catherine wore), and the criticism that followed was partly due to Sussex bots, yes, but not all of it. They weren't global stars and they didn't like it. Some of it is, IMO, generational, some of it is due to their enormous sense of privilege, and some of it is due to the absence of any sense of duty and a higher purpose (unlike Charles). They flit here, they flit there. There's a lot of talk and not a whole lot of there "there." I cringe when I hear fans say, well, they are young, they have a family, whinewhinewhine. They are over forty fucking years old. When are they going to finally grow up?
They're both mid-forties now. The excuses don't really matter, at least not to me at this point.
They take approximately TWENTY (20) WEEKS of vacation per year. That's five months. I can't harp on this enough. It's 11 March right now, which means there are sixteen (16) days until they go on a month-long vacation with the kids. Unless...unless they suddenly decide to change course and work a day or two during the Lambrook, month-long holiday.
Are Will & Kate working hard every day to make every day count before they skip out again? Doesn't seem like it.
Not much from them this week. Next week their schedule will revolve around the Nigeria state visit, which will be one day of events from them that I've seen so far. That'll probably be it for Kate, aside from St. Patrick's Day. Perhaps William will do a bit more next week. Not going to hold my breath on that one. Then it'll be one more work week before they go on vacation, which they seemingly do almost half the year.
Perhaps things would have been different if they got married two or three years earlier. For all the presumption of William saying that he wanted to "wait" because he wanted to make sure Kate was "ready," it has always been obvious that HE was the one who wasn't "ready" to get married.
It wasn't as if Kate was working a difficult job or anything. She worked part-time as an accessories buyer at Jigsaw for a while, and then she supposedly "worked" for her parents' company, Party Pieces. I write "worked" when it comes to her alleged Party Pieces job because are we really supposed to believe The Rich Party Girl steadily worked 30 to 35 or even 40 hours per week for 46 weeks a year for several years? Consistently? On a regular basis?? I don't buy that she worked full-time during those years, unlike plenty of other adults I know.
And this fantasy that William is ready to be king because he had weekly tea with his grandma on Sundays when he was in high school? Or is it that he's ready to be king because he married his TWU LUV? Or because Time magazine stupidly put him on the cover almost thirty years ago?
But the entire Wales fandom will pretend William can do Charles's job because they REFUSE to acknowledge what the job really IS.
Do they really think William would be able to keep up with Charles? Or even his late grandmother? Because this was KCIII's schedule on Tuesday:

Every time William works this much, he needs an immediate vacation. KCIII is still undergoing cancer treatment, but he's out there doing his job, day after day.
Of course they can't do tours. Doing tours means they're going to encounter the unexpected, and the feckless, emotionally-stunted, thin-skinned, privacy-obsessed, control freak can't handle dealing with the unexpected. That Saudi Arabia tour was 48 hours, tops.
BUT Will & Kate can't do "anything" because "the kids," "Kate's health," or "Charles doesn't want them to outshine him and Camilla." It's the same shit from ten years ago, just different word choices. Really no different than when William "was more off than on" while flying for the air ambulance. The more things change, the more they stay the same. For Will & Kate, not working is the norm, regardless of the mental games their insipid fans play.
