Skylines YVR: World AIDS DAY — December 1st — Givin’it back. Volunteered all day. My lunch break pause to look back at the architectural gem of AIDS VANCOUVER, where so many community outreach programs are based. ••• AIDS Vancouver was founded in 1983 as the first AIDS service organization in Canada. ••• Beautiful new building, clean lines very now. The staff is great in each department I’ve been involved with, as a volunteer worker, member / client . ••• Above the 4 stories of office/admin, are 15 + with 81-unit social/non-market housing building for those living with HIV/AIDS . ••• This mixed-use development was funded by developer fees aims to help the city’s most vulnerable residents: singles, couples, families, & seniors. ••• In addition to new housing stock, the non-profit office space in the base of the building is dedicated to community-based organizations (ie. AIDS Vancouver). ••• The entire project – both land & construction – cost $28.28 million, entirely funded by community amenity contributions. Wall Financial Corp. contributed $23.6 million for rezoning of 1300 Richards St., with remainder provided by Downtown South Development Cost Levies for replacement housing. ••• iPhone photos by @christopherlylesmall @smallstudiodesign — of Exterior of the AIDS Vancouver building at 1105 Seymour Street, from Emery Barnes Park, Yaletown. #aids • #worldaifsday2020 • #worldaidsday • #aidsvancouver • #volunteer • #donatetoday • #skylinesyvr • #smallstudiodesign • (at AIDS Vancouver) https://www.instagram.com/p/CISh5eihIwn/?igshid=1kcxj6jdxb0kt
