Every time I start thinking about it I honestly have a hard time placing Equestria’s status as far as technology goes. Like, on one hand I like the canon idea of arcades being popular and placing Equestria in an early stage of technology. And on another, I like to think that Heat Wave has an ipod even though that’s too new for my tastes? 

It might make more sense for him to have something like a more pony-catered walkman anyways, which would be consistent with the rest of my headcanons. I do think that computers (at least in our sense) wouldn’t ever be super prevalent because things like keyboards would be impractical for any ponies’ but unicorns’ hooves. And also there wouldn’t be a huge need for something like that in their culture. 

The Princesses do, however, have a small secret group who specialize in magic/technology combination computers. They’re all brilliant engineers who worked with Celestia and Luna to create them, and use them for hacking and surveillance purposes of sorts. The technology is not known outside of these ponies, and it’s also rather hard to reproduce and maintain, so would be impractical for common use anyways. Twilight’s friendship map might be a reaaaally lowkey experiment leading up to this, for it has similar holographic features.

Rym is the trickster god.

There are six other gods, and they all made the world together, but when they were done with it, Rym is the one who gave it life.

this is from sooo faarr in this is like the middle of part five, but I was working on some of Hav’s characterization and this happened so here

"I don't have access to everything, Eks," he said, exasperated. "Some people still remember when I was an enforcer of the law, not a breaker of it. I don't run the criminal underworld."

"But your father--"

"My father was a coward who worked through three layers of intermediaries and middlemen. He smuggled fine art from one island; he was hardly an accomplished crime boss. He didn't have a network, he had access/to a network."

"And you don't?"

"I'm not the king," Hav said bitterly. "In case you don't remember. I've spent the last two years building connections and weasaling my way beyond where my father left off, but it's not like these people trust me. They only tell me so much at a time. I've cobbled together stories for you bit by bit, each of twenty people giving me one hint or one rumor until I can form the whole picture. And if they know someone else told me the beginning, they certainly won't tell me the middle, let alone the end. I come in sideways, get them drunk, cheat at cards and gamble for words instead of money. I once roughed up a man in a back alley just to get him to tell me the name of the man who knew the woman that had access to the roster of names I needed because one of those people could tell you about Captain Dirael, and he only told me because he didn't know that I already knew the part of the story that contained the rumor about the salt flats. You think my job is easy, Eks, you think I can get you anything you ask just by snapping my fingers or winning a hand of cards. I should never have told you that I used to be a prince. You think that that is an advantage, but it is a hindrance that I have learned to live with. I would appreciate it if you could figure it out, too."

Hav sat back in his chair, his eyes snapping, and drained his wine glass.

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go see a dog about a man." He swept out of the room and the slamming of the door was lost in the din of the bar. 

Eks frowned, but the expression was aimed at herself, not Hav. She glanced at Peg, who did not move her impassive gaze from the wires she was fiddling with.

“Don’t say you told me so.”

“I wasn’t going to say anything,” Peg said coolly. Eks made a face.

Wye stumbled out of the crowd with a tray of drinks and looked, bewildered at Hav’s empty chair and the half-finished game of cards lying on the table.

“What did I miss?”

Snippet time:

“Fine,” he said through gritted teeth. “Are you going to help me? or are you going to leave me bleeding until the tide comes in to rub salt into my wounds?”

“Wounds? I only poked you once.”

“My ego has been horrifically bruised.”

“It must be some ego to be so injured by little old me.” Eks thought she was probably enjoying this more than she should. Her smile dropped a fraction as he pressed his hand more firmly to the hole in his shoulder and grimaced. She sheathed her sword and bent to help him stand. “Come on,” she said, “Peg can patch you up if you can make it to the top of the cliff.”

“Is Peg the kindly soul who dropped a rock on me?”

“Mm,” Eks grunted, shifting the thief’s good arm across her shoulders. “She was just doing her job. I’m sure she’ll apologize.”

“You haven’t apologized yet.”

“I’m probably not going to,” Eks snapped. “You threatened me, tried to steal my sword, and laid hands on a member of the clergy without consent.”

“You really are clergy, aren’t you?” he muttered, then yelped as she helped him up the path and jostled his bad arm.

“Well, lying is prohibited by my order, so...” Eks shook her head to clear a few drops of rain from her eyes. She hauled the thief up over the edge of the cliff and he groaned as he rolled off of her supporting shoulder and onto his back. Peg emerged from the tent with Eks’ scarf and a look of stern disapproval. Her eyes blazed when she saw the prone form of the thief.

“Why did you bring him up here?” she asked.

“He’s wounded.”

“Yes. And?”

“And I thought you could probably fix him better than I could.”

“Yes. But why would I want to?” If Peg could have arched her eyebrow, Eks was sure she would have. The prophet paused, looking down at her attacker. She tucked her wet hair into her wet scarf and propped her hands on her hips.

“I have no idea,” she said. “Thief.” She nudged him with her toe until he blinked up at her through the rain pattering onto his face. “Why should Peg fix you? Why did I bring you up this cliff?”

“I’m not sure,” he said. “I’m very grateful you did.”

I did mention Eks is sometimes idiotically impulsive, right? Don’t worry, this time it turns out okay: they actually need Hav and his information network to do their job, so it all works out in the end.

I realize that I haven’t posted anything with Wye in it yet.

“But...you--you’re the Prophet.”

“There are six prophets, we’re not exactly uncommon,” Eks said, rolling her eyes. The boy--all eager puppy eyes and twitching hands--shook his head in protest.

“But you’re the Prophet. Llysir-an-Ras’ own hand in the world! There are songs about you,” he breathed the last part in awe.

“Yes. Unfortunately.” Eks raised her had at a passing server, attempting to secure his attention.

“But, who is your companion?” the boy asked. Eks ignored him.

“Peg,” the construct said evenly, looking down at the boy with a mixture of curiosity and mild annoyance.

“That’s not your whole name,” he said.

“I don’t have any more name.”

“But--”

“I’m not in the songs, my friend. It’s not important.”

“It is to me. What if I write a song and I put you in? then I’ll need your whole name.” Eks let out a bark of laughter, not unkind, but disbelieving. The boy tapped his fingers nervously on the edge of the table and shifted his weight to his other foot.

“What is it you want from us?” Eks said, finally catching the eye of the serving man.

“I...” The boy ducked his head, and when he looked up, there was a new fire in his eyes. Eks paid attention. “My name is Wyelentare-jae-Hooden, and I would be honored if you let me ask a few questions, just so I can gather a few details, something that’s not in the songs. Something that I can put in them.”

“Wyelentare?” Peg murmured. He nodded. Eks and Peg exchanged a glance.

“How do you feel about going on adventures?” Eks asked. “You seem very keen on writing about them. But how are you at actually having them?”

“Why?” the boy’s eyes narrowed suspiciously.

“Just so happens we’ve been looking for you.”

And then they abduct him and he cries out of happiness.
