People from the Solar kingdom are massively diverse to the point that there is no real “typical” Solar look. Skin tones range from tanned to extremely dark and their hair ranges from platinum blonde (almost white) to jet black. Hair texture is also varied, ranging from poker straight to afro textured. All these traits mix and match in various combinations. Eye colours tend to be green, hazel and, brown and black with blue eyes occurring very rarely.
Hair is often dyed, either partially or completely, and usually with bright and unnatural colours. The colours and style of dying have no real significance outside of personal preference. Hair is usually worn in a manner that incorporates some form of braids and always incorporates ribbons in some way. Different coloured ribbons indicated different positions in the social hierarchy with red being the highest and green the lowest. The Solars do not have a strict hierarchy, different classes being free to mingle with each other and all jobs being, technically speaking, equally doable by all classes. Some occupations are more common with certain classes than others however, such as the lower classes usually farming or doing some form of manual labour.
Hair is only ever worn fully down (i.e. no braids and ribbons etc.) during mourning periods. During those times, hair is only ever tied up if necessary for work and the like and then is tied simply (e.g. ponytail) and ribbons are not used.
Hair is kept long and only cut as a sign of shame, repentance, or punishment. Cutting another’s hair is generally looked down upon. In olden days, you were entitled to cut someone’s hair if they had wronged you but the practice is dying out in most areas of the Solar kingdom in recent times unless the wronging was severe.
Most Solars over the age of eighteen are tattooed in some way that reflects their personality, life, ambitions, family etc. Most Solars have more than one tattoo and most Solars add to their tattoos over the course of their lives. Children and teenagers are often given temporary tattoos by their friends and family.
Solars are a physically strong people, the strength is believed to have been granted upon them by the sun deities they worship and many make use of this strength in their careers (the Solar kingdom has an abundance of builders, smithies, farmers, craftsmen and so on) as well as recreationally (sporting events are held often and many Solars compete in sanctioned fighting matches for extra pocket money - some Solars even make their career out of it)
