Significant change...Voy solo.
Due to substantial issues with our shipping agent being unable to deliver the second bike in a timely fashion, Phillip will not be participating in the Expedition. He has family commitments in the UK and would have to fly from Lima to the UK on the 19th. It is not possible to cover that mileage safely in such a short time period. We purchased tickets from Argentina to Lima recently, in hopes of salvaging the both his trip to the UK and our expedition. However, continued lack of progress by our shipper and our estimation of the delay by customs means Phillip wouldn’t even have time to make it to Bogata. So, he’s cancelled his shipment and I’ve set off on my own. He hopes to salvage what he can, since his bike is crated and sitting in a warehouse in Miami, but it’s not looking likely. Ultimately, the shipping agent created the worst case scenario for us. I have a bike now in Argentina, we’re thousands of dollars overextended on our budget, Phillip’s bike is not coming, and our departure is 12 days delayed. Thanks a lot.
