Caption taken with permission from a post in the Breastfeeding Support Group for Black Moms (FB group). https://www.facebook.com/groups/Blackmomsdobreastfeed/ —— Very few women have Low Supply. ***They have low breastfeeding education.*** Show me 10 women who claimed to have low supply and I bet my daycare bill that 3 of them weren't replacing pump parts on schedule 2 were timing feedings 2 were taking fenugreek which dried them up 1 got her cycle and thought that temporary dip was permanent 1 was in the top up trap and the 10th just didnt want to (which is her choice and completely fine, but doesn't make her a testimony to low Supply or women who CAN'T breastfeed) Very few women actually have low supply. Edit to add: those with true low Supply (say due to certain types of breast surgery, IGT, retained placenta or PCOS) please seek help with an ibclc who can create a plan tailored Just For You. Many women have still successfully breastfed with those conditions. 2nd edit: some women dont Respond well to pumps. But again...not low supply. #worlddoulaweek day four: THEN AND NOW— this is a blurry picture of me holding my high school best friend’s baby. this was october 2012, i was 25 yr old and i had just witnessed the first birth ever in my life. ✨ when the baby was crowning, and then making his way out of my mama friend as i looked on, i remember realizing that the baby was coming across the invisible veil that hung in between the two worlds, right there and then. leaving the stars and arriving earthside, he was. ✨ it was beautiful + otherworldly to grasp, and i was grateful to my girlfriend for inviting me to the experience. everything felt like a blur afterward. i was lost in postpartum bliss with the family, continuing to support and serve... not even knowing what a doula was. 😉 that was my then, and this is my now— old friends and new families with love in between. ✨ #WDW20 #iamdoula #spilledinkbyrmab https://www.instagram.com/p/B-Q6I3RnR6t/?igshid=a620u5pjonlo

the mountains are calling and i must go ✨ for #worlddoulaweek day two: LANDMARK— i share with you the breathtaking view of the mountains here in colorado. 🏔 i’ve only been here for 7 months now. before that i was in connecticut for about a year and half (where i was born + raised). before that i was in texas for about 4 and half years (where my two babies were born + where i was born as a mama). ✨ it’s also fitting that this post is of the moving road, because that’s also totally me— for most of the last decade i was on the road a lot (in and out of country), always moving, always on the go. i’ve slowed down and stayed in places a lot longer since having kids! 😎 but you know what, it is a long term goal of mine to become a traveling doula and be able to support families across the country! ✨ #coloradodoula for now. #spilledinkbyrmab #WDW20 https://www.instagram.com/p/B-Il-jmngBa/?igshid=2j9qbedkueni
