BANDCAMP FRIDAY IS HERE!
People, there's a LOT going on. I mean a LOT-and…………..it's a LOT. Empire is having a temper-tantrum right now, and its causing hurt, exposing long held divisions and putting light on long known and un-rectified injustice. Fear, Anger, & Distrust has encrusted all parts of our Human Union at the moment.
With that being acknowledged, we want to remind you: in its fullest reality, all of this is the same as it ever was. Empire has always trodden upon its chosen target, its just a matter of who it is, and who's paying attention-na'mean? Human family has always had moments to split itself across dinner tables, national borders, county lines, and neighborhood barriers. This particular location in the Sol System, regardless of what spot on The Big Ball of Dirt is occupied at any given moment, has long operated as the point of Spiritual collision for us all.
There's no denying it, though some will. As I see it, and as Nina Simone taught us (paraphrased….): "As far as I'm concerned……….I CHOOSE to reflect the times and situations in which I find myself. We will shape and mold this country-or it will not be molded and shaped at all anymore. How can you be an artist and NOT reflect the times? That to me, is the definition of an Artist".
That is our definition as well, and part of our driving Muse: To create and distribute art that reflects our time and molds the spirit of All the People.
So, we've come to another Bandcamp Friday, this one at the beginning of Black History Month. We're here because They were here. We're STILL here, because they showed us how to Stand, Stick & Move. We honor them by following their lead, and learning how to walk with others along the way-Always Onward.
So yea, sure-I'd love to pitch to you all to make purchases of Black created music on this day-especially what World Eater Recordings releases. I need it, the artists need it.
But that's not what's really important.
Here's what it is today: Expand what is defined as Your Family. Knock on your neighbor's door and make sure they're good. Look out for the person in the subway or bus that is disheveled-a little cash and food. Look someone in the eye and give them The Nod as you pass them on the street (even if it seems they don't know what that means, lol). Share some news, food or info for our People Revolutionaries on the front lines, doing their best to support their neighbors and defend their Constitutional Rights, since the current Federal Government won't, and local law "enforcement" doesn't have the will to currently do so.
And take care of YOURSELVES. Don't let your heart fall into despair from the madness you see in that little screen in your hands. That screen doesn't actually show Reality. Its a Personal Idiot Box, derived from the Standard Idiot Box. There's much more happening than what it shows, and it can only show you a limited view. Trust: The Big Ball of Dirt is still spinning, and there's plenty of planting still happening.
Here's your new mantra: Spring is Coming.
But yea-there's also plenty of slamming music we have on offer. New bits from Shrine for the Black Madonna, and great music you likely haven't picked up yet, like Ty's Urban Grove, The Sweet Fuzzy Itsy Bitsy, Gamma Phi Acme-and yea, even Jared Hassan Foles' single "Furies of Alkebulan".
And keeping to Professor Simone's edict: we're using every day of These Times to craft new works that will be available soon; another EP from Shrine4TBM, as well as new works from The SFIB and Jared Hassan Foles.
Thank you (again) for all your past and continued support. Keep your heads up and on a swivel, and Be Inspired! Onward!
We’re always in the act of making, so please stay in touch with us, feel free to reach out, and follow and like “worldeaternyc” everywhere across the internets!
