Reading Is Fundamental (and Necessary for Bloggers)
Reading is important for bloggers, because it provides different opinions and views that relate to their own subject matter. I blog for World Famous Media & I find it beneficial to myself to compare note with other entertainment news bloggers to see where our opinions differ. It also help in my style, because I don't want to sound like I'm saying the same thing every other blogger is giving you. Reading enhances ideas & vocabulary, while helping a blogger connect with a diverse audience. In "Teaching Journalist to Read" by Felix Salmon, he details the importance or reading in a journalist life.
The reason, fundamentally, is that journalism is becoming much more conversational. It started with the rise of the blogs, and if blogs are now slowly dying out, that’s only because the conversation has overtaken them. It’s moved to Twitter, and Facebook, and many mainstream websites, too: the web is social now. You no longer need a blog to be part of the conversation; you don’t even need a Tumblr. Everybody is a publisher now, and all these new networks have helped to create a new vibrancy in public discourse.
I've learned a lot from the blogs of Felix Salmon & every day I play around in the blogesphere I pick up new ways to tweek my blogs. I'm still in the refining phase of finding my voice & style, but I think as long as I keep reading, writing, and publishing I'll come up with something that most can relate to. Hopefully YOU all will Enjoy it!!
