"See the Turtle of Enormous Girth. On His Shell He holds the Earth." *Many Cultures around the world have a World Turtle mythology. This is my interpretation. *This World Turtle has a copper body with gold highlights. His shell has a mountain scene complete with trees, a house, a pond, a tiny boat, and even teeny tiny wild flowers. *This piece is entirely hand sculpted from polymer clay over a wire and foil armature. I hand painted him with shimmery and regular acrylics. I sealed the whole thing with satin gloss. *He is 5 inches across from head to toe, 5 inches wide from arm to arm, and just about 2 inches tall at the tip of the mountain. *This was extremely difficult to photograph. I really hope you can see the detail and love I put into it. *He is excited for the Around the World event in the Eclectic Market this Thursday at 7:30 PM Eastern (4:30 Pacific) on Facebook. Mythological Masters: Gaia

Pantheon of Origin: Greek Deity of: The Earth, Life Design: Massive tortoise covered in various flowers, green moss, an a lily pad on her head. The moss is in some spots colored blue to signify the ocean. Deity Story: Earth Day may seem pointless, but this primordial deity takes it to the next level! She was one of the original beings born from Khaos, along with Tartarus and Eros. After Khaos makes Erebus and Nyx and promptly fading into obscurity, Gaia made her husband, Ouranos, and they in turn made various beings on what would become known as Earth. These include the 12 Titans, the 3 Cyclops, and the 3 Hecatoncheires (basically giants with many limbs and many heads, kinda like a Greek Eldritch horror). When Ouranos pulls a dick move and banishes his more monstrous children into the Tartarus pit, Gaia makes an adamantine sickle which Cronus used to castrate his dad. Said castration leads to some unmentionables dropping into the sea, and from the foam emerges Aphrodite. And probably spent a few millennia showering with a thousand-yard stare (and who could blame her, really). Back onto Gaia, she and Ouranos get much more mellow as time goes by, being more warners of impending upheaval rather than meddling in malicious affairs. No, that's saved for the various times (justified or not) the gods/titans pulled jerk moves on both mortals and their demigod children. Monster Info: Admittedly, the idea of the earthy goddess being a massive tortoise is a bit generic due to how universal it is in places like India and the Americas. However, inspired by documentaries involving speculative evolution, Lora felt it best to make Gaia into the image of said world-terrapin. Despite her somewhat simple appearance, this Gaia has a bit more going on! For one, Lora was able to make her a living recycling plant. That is to say, she can eat any garbage or pollution, and turn it into new resources for the environment. For instance, if Gaia inhales smog, she can not only breathe it in, but exhale it as oxygen, and by extension ozone, into the Earth's atmosphere! She's also a tank in terms of durability, though she's a fairly passive creature. As such, she is usually unseen, hidden as a massive rock that is protected by law to not be tampered with. Seems the mayor considered it a fantastic art piece.
