Lotta Svärd was a voluntary women’s national defense organization active from 1920 to 1944, which had a wide influence across various areas of the war.

During the war years, the lottas worked in many roles, some under particularly demanding and dangerous conditions. Even younger girls, aged 8-16, called “little lottas,” participated in the organization’s activities and supported the work of the lottas in their hometowns.

The work of the lottas was a crucial part of the overall war effort, enabling thousands of men to be deployed to combat duties and strengthening the home front.

The Lotta Svärd organization was disbanded in the autumn of 1944 in accordance with the terms of the Moscow Armistice. •••••••• Kolme Lotta Svärd -lottaa lumipuvuissa, 13.1.1942.

Lotta Svärd oli vuosina 1920-1944 toiminut naisten vapaaehtoinen maanpuolustusjärjestö, joka vaikutti laajasti sodan eri alueilla.

Sotavuosina lotat työskentelivät monissa tehtävissä, ja osa teki työtä erityisen vaativissa ja vaarallisissa oloissa. Myös nuoremmat, 8-16-vuotiaat pikkulotat, osallistuivat järjestön toimintaan ja tukivat lottatyötä kotipaikkakunnillaan.

Lottien työ oli ratkaiseva osa sodan kokonaisuutta, ja se mahdollisti tuhansien miesten siirtymisen taistelutehtäviin sekä vahvisti kotirintaman toimintaa.

Lottajärjestö lakkautettiin syksyllä 1944 Moskovan välirauhansopimuksen ehtojen mukaisesti.

I totally had not bought 1, 3, and 4 in the series and read half the first chapter of 4 and 3 before I realized I didn't have the 2nd one in the series.
