Hello hello to the mun behind this blog !
I was introduced to X-Men through the Krakoa era and I've seen so many new readers (like me) say that era was amazing, perfect and a good jump in point as it will make you love all the characters...
And I have to completely disagree with all of those people
Again, as someone who knows little to nothing about all the iconic characters used during Krakoa, I could not like or care about a single one of them because to like a character, they need to have an interesting personality and to care about them, a motivation needs to be established to get a grasp on who they are fully
But all of them have been so inconsistent in the ways they were written during those 5 years : Their actions made no sense because more often then not, they say they'll do something which makes sense in the plot and for the character at that point in time but right after they are doing something else entirely that's unrelated to what they set themselves up to do like they suddenly changed their minds 5 minutes later. Their personality is whatever the plot requires to move itself along and their motivation is randomized between two very antagonistic extremes simultaneously
The seemingly long established relationships between each of those characters always took by surprise as they all ignored each other until the point in time where that info bit gets dropped and then they never interact again in the ways it should matter and help with the story
I wasn't that interested in X-Men before but reading through the Krakoa era definitely left me no longer wanting to check anything about it again
Hi Nonny I will answer just this ask since its bigger lol
Well, Krakoa brought back many x-men that were forgetten so I can see why people would be hopeful to see their fav obscure characters again, but the thing is...they remain obscure. Nothing really change...they are in a cult island and everyone is ok with that.
Look you must have saw many jokes about how horny the x-men are and if they were upfront "guys we are here for the orgies" maybe things wouldn't be so bad...well, I have seen erotic of the X-men better (there one where Jean and Scott fuck the entire Marvel cast) back like, as a comic book plot...Korakoa is iffy.
And frankly an insult for Scott Summer. So, when he wants to make Utopia, he is evil. Prof X and Moira making THAT is fine and everyone celebrates?
I CANT SEE THE XMEN AS FOUND FAMILY.
To me the only found family is the FF. But I know that is a bit iffy in using this name for the group since Sue and Reed are married, Jonnhy is Sue´s brother and Ben is Reed´s bff....its a family, not a found family (maybe its a found family in the eyes of Ben)
Its just...Krakoa is not even horny. Kurt became an wierd anti-sex man (bet they wanted to make him homophobic and create a conversion therapy. I mean, Kurt friends a guy who used two girls who want to explore their sexuality to unleash a monster and see no problem here...so)
