I'm unsure how to approach diverse stories regarding ethnicity. It's important for me to tackle this as a writer, because it reflects the reality I'm in, but there are hundreds and more of ethnicities, and I have no idea where to start. (Similar questions likely have been asked already, so if you have replied to these, please forward me to them, so you don't have to answer more than you need.)

There’s always the Diversity in Writing tag and the Culture tag. There you’ll find a some things that might help you.

Here are some considerations you have to remember

Choose the setting of your story. The place and the time are always important when you want to portray ethnicities.

Research. Finding the “official History” is easy when ethnicities have been colonized and their history and stories have been written by somebody else, and the “unofficial history”, their History, is usually left to perish with time, forgotten, and/or forbidden. Try to find the last one, their vision of the world, as a whole, is important too.

Don’t romanticize.

Don’t change events, stories, settings, names, rites for your own purpose.

Be careful with cultural appropriation.

Avoid the White Saviour cliché.
