His name is Nitrous Oxide (“Nitro”) and he found a baby in a trash can which turned out to be a dragon. So he’s hitting the single dad lifestyle not only running but screaming.

Yo! I've been on a roll with my art lately, completely unstoppable this year 🤙

Last time, I introduced you to Nozzo - Eugene’s dad. A simple, hard-working engineer and a bit of a grouch. Now, it’s time to meet his maman.

Ziffti Silverflow (née Copperbrow). Back in her youth, she worked as a clerk in the kaja'mite mines, but after venturing down into the pits themselves, she ran into Nozzo and somehow couldn't un-run into him. It’s hard to call Nozzo charming, but he hooked Ziffti anyway - so much so that a couple of years later, they had to rush a wedding because Eugene was already on the way 🌸

She managed to stay in her corporate structure for a bit after Eugene was born, but once her daughter came along, she finally threw in the towel and went freelance as a home-based seamstress. That actually ended up saving the family during the rough times when Nozzo lost his job.

The absolute peak of Eugene and his mom's relationship has to be the evening he got out of Gallywix jail and came home without any camouflage.

Eugene had spent a long time hiding his connection to fel and void magic from his parents. He used to cover up his dark eye circles with foundation, and his sister would give him skin-colored manicures to hide his blackened nails. This time, he came home just as he was, took his mother by the hands, knelt down, and asked for forgiveness.

Naturally, she accepted him with all his little demons. But she still gave him a very goblin-style scolding: "Why not a priest? It's safer and much more profitable. Warlocks have a reputation lower than dirt, who's ever gonna pay you for that?"

Though honestly, what upset her the most was the fact that he had been lying to her.
