Forcing Confidence

I had a good day today??? And I know it’s going to fade but I figured i would document this for evidence that i had a nice day and I smiled a lot

Anyway I wrote some prose thing??? Free verse, perhaps. It’ll probably change over time as i edit and add to it. All sentences relate to the subject matter and most are physical feeling

The tightness you feel in your cheeks when you’re smiling too big but you don’t care because you need to smile like this right now, you’ve seen its recipient with eyes downcast and arms in a pretzel twist for the past week and you refuse to see that again

The first seconds of a sprint at sunset, when the air is faintly scented with smoke and freshly cut grass, before the thoughts of “goddamn I need to work out again” kick in and you flop down on the ground melodramatically

The third time you listened to your new favorite song, and you can now predict the rhythm shifts and recite some of the lyrics, but it’s still fresh and new and you don’t quite know all the steps yet

The force you have to exert when you rip something that wasn’t designed to be rip – your clenched jaws, tensed fingers, and the arm whiplash you get when it finally gives and you now have two parts instead of just one
