Can I also say how fucking twisted and fucked it is that Detective Borm talked to everyone on the staff about Ivory except Pierce? The detective probably knew from his interview with Clown that Clown isn't a man likely to indulge in gossip or snitching. But a random maid or butler? If he found one mouthy enough maybe, just maybe. But with Clown both being extremely protective of the Hemlocke family's affairs as well as being the overseer of the staff, if he had tipped his hand to Clown I'm sure Clown would have politely but FIRMLY escorted the detective off property, never to return again.
Posting my incomprehensible wp!Pyroclown art in preparation for episode 9. Wish me luck
guess I’m just making up his backstory now
Ughhhh Ash Whitepine. Rotating him in my minds eye.
I was rewatching WP and talking to my partner about these few instances I noted where when Ash would be silent and seemingly in his head, this quiet but incessant high pitched noise would play. It happened the most notably after the funeral and when Clown is watching him, and Ash is putting food in the ovens and then just pauses for the slightest moment. And the noise plays, and the camera hovers on Ash before he is jerked back to reality by Maddy standing there and watching him, and the noise suddenly disappears and he quickly shuffles to move on.
And then coupled with how he interacts with Clown during Clown's PTSD episode - it just gives off such "we have shit going on we cannot entrust anyone else with except each other." I feel like Ash has so much more going on just like Clown did, some sort of fucked up anguish and issues that he keeps under lock and key. The way he was asking Maddy how she stayed so positive despite the stress and pain everyone was under and then this slight hopelessness and disappointment when she said she stayed positive by suppressing and running away from the pain. Like it felt like he felt a moment of hope she could give him an answer and then it fell flat, and then it's followed by the noises.
Idk idk. I just rly think Ash is neat. It's so subtle but his role as Clown's right hand man - Clown having him lead part of the group and drive the car, Ash playing bodyguard with Clown and blocking the rest of the staff off from Mysti's body and barking orders (almost like a soldier, whoa 😳), Clown asking him to call for help, Clown keeping an eye on Ash - and then ep 8 just leads me to think the two are more alike than we think or may know as of yet.
No because with the factual knowledge that Clown worked for the Hemlocke's for a significant portion of time and the phrasing insinuating Ash also being a tenured worker, coupled with ep.8 and how they interact during Clown's episode absolutely kills me. The two seniors in their field, the two likely oldest and grizzled. The way that Ash has clearly seen Clown have PTSD episodes like this multiple times over and has familiarity and comfortability in helping him through them. I can't imagine what that must have been like for them, the unflappable Mr. Pierce's breathing going fast and heavy, an odd shake of his limbs, the far off look he may get. Maybe Ash would help him in secret, keep this private from the other staff or maybe they know to fetch him during moments of duress. Also hearing their contrasting concerns: Ash telling Clown he's safe and he'll protect Clown, while Clown is worried he won't be able to protect others.
Idk idk, I see people saying they suspect Ash but honestly I really hope he isn't a perpetrator because I can't imagine how wrecking it'd be to not only have your long time closest friend harm those who are deemed your wards, but also to be harmed by the one person who you sought out or who came to you to keep you safe and stable.
Tbh in my headcanon - I imagine Clown wearing a mask dude to sustaining severe facial damage from the war. It's like those old images of soldiers during the World Wars who had to use facial reconstruction and prosthetic masks to mask and cover damaged parts of their faces from like explosions and whatnot.
Can I pose a potential headcanon/theory for Pierce and Sir Zombie?
Both would be of the age where they both could have served in the war. Clown seems to be the most tenured servant - as seen as his position as their overseer - and according to his conversation with Ivory, he has been around since the Hemlocke's still used carriages. Anyone wonder if the two served together?
Zombie could have been Pierce's superior officer and post war he could have offered Clown the job position due to knowing his capabilities which we see on full display with Pierce's ability to run a tight ship per say and his unflappable personality - but in an idealistic and benevolent sense it could have also helped Clown resettle into civilian life post war as we've seen him still be affected by wartime trauma. Zombie also lost his emotions, and his own time in combat could have helped contribute to his condition.
