Round 18

This is the last round of the WPC, and it was loop puzzles with similar variation across them all. I’m not very good at loop puzzles but I solved many of them including “The Boss” one at the end. If all correct, I got 355 out of 600 points.

Some results from the morning have been posted and I made a small mistake on round 15 and ended up with 285 points, which puts me in 83rd place unofficially.

Round 17

These were casino themed puzzles and most of the points were in something called dice poker. I got all of them but the hardest one and got a few others but forgot to look at one I had intended to do. If all correct, I got 485 out of 1050 points.

Round 16

These were a set of coded puzzles that assign a value to each letter from 0 to 25 to solve the 11 puzzles. I believe I got all but 2 puzzles and 2 letters and if the puzzles are correct (and letters), I’ll get 620 or 640 out of 750 points.

Round 15

This was a singularity theme round with puzzles that had a single type of clue throughout the puzzle. I did the easy ones however it’s very easy to make a mistake and not notice so if all correct, I got 315 points out of 900.

Rounds 13 and 14

These were the team rounds to end Day 2. I struggled with the puzzle I got but managed to complete it. We didn’t finish everything but we did relatively well.

The last round were a planet theme and they were circular puzzles that rotated (it would be the same as a 9x9 grid with one side being a toroidal). I did 2 of them for about a quarter of the points and then we guessed at the final puzzle which is derived from the solutions of the rest of the puzzles. We didn’t finish everything, but hopefully did enough to get some partial points.

The results from Day 2 have been posted and I got 320 and 330 on the last 2 rounds of the day and that put me at 82nd unofficially and 55th officially.

Round 12

The last puzzle of the day was a giant shading puzzle broken up into 37 regions. I made a mistake early on that took me about 10-15 mins to spot. I hope I fixed it and the affected regions but I’m not sure and I couldn’t finish it. It was out of 400 points.

The results from Round 8 have been posted and after getting what I expected, I moved up a bit to 89th unofficially and 57th officially in the standings.

Round 11

This round was a mix of 3 puzzle sets. I solved 2 and if all correct, got 320 out of 450 points. The third one was made up of yajilin loop puzzles I’ve never liked nor solved before in a competition (to my recollection).

Round 10

This was a new puzzle type called Nemo, it’s a Latin square puzzle with some squares that point to blanks. I’m any case I went for the easiest ones and got the 2nd hardest. If all correct, I got 290 out of 500 points (it was 30 mins long)
