I just found my Heart Gold/Soul Silver Guide & Pokédex and honestly I could not be happier

#Pokemon #I had forgotten I even had this one ah #I'd been banking on getting my Diamond and Pearl one and I was and still am convinced that I left it with my brother's folks #Can finally stop dreaming about that at least #Maybe that dream I had (again) about picking it up and leaving was just a little prophetic lol #This one's even better than D&P honestly! I was considering basing Homestyle in part on HGSS since it's my favourite #But even leaving out the Johto Dex it still has all of the Kanto region (and all of the region-specific 'mon are in the same section!)#Not to mention it's got all the Kanto region Gym Leaders and type matchups and movesets and fjdsklahfdsf I'm so excited #Such a great tool I'm definitely excited to dig in here #Not to mention if it could help me actually beat my current save on that game since it's been like....a decade since I started it lol #I'll still have to check and see if it has any Kanto maps - I'm not expecting anything but if it does ♪#What a wonderful tool ah #I'm a little extra motivated on Pokemon again too since I bought an Espeon plushy a bit ago and smol and I named her today #Her name is Psyrple (Psychic Purple) lol #And we both found those Pokeballs that pop open if you toss them down and she got a Ditto (one of her faves) and I got a Sableye :D #Plus my project with my doggo plushy has been going well c: There'll be doodles on that front soon I think #WPPkmn #WPVG

So was anyone gonna tell me that Soul Silver is one of the best designed Pokemon games available or was I supposed to find that out by studying route layouts myself

#Pokemon #HGSS are so fucking Extra™ on the Incredible Content I'm actually in awe #Like I didn't appreciate it when I first played 'cause it was half a decade ago and I was half a decade younger in my game design knowledge #But like oh my gods oh my gods what the heck it's such a beautifully designed game #I can't believe that I beat X first even tho I got it three years later I'm so mad lol #I'm not really but I Am mad that it had the audacity to call the first little stretch of road into town Route 1 like #The sheer gall I have never been so retroactively scandalized #I love X with at least a fair majority of my heart but I will never forgive it for it's crimes against the name and honour of ''Route 1''#You can't even encounter any Pokemon on it!! That's not a route!!!!!#Anyway back to loving Soul Silver - New Bark Town? Immaculate. I have never known such beauty in my life #The windmills fill me with such joy and wonder #I drew a little map replica in my notebook because I was so utterly delighted #The Pokemon Lab matching the aesthetic of the nearby houses and having a unique build? The depths of my love know no bounds #Also doing the damage calculations like I said I would only further drove my appreciation of Pokemon [As A Game™]#Every single time you initiate a round of combat it just Does That for you it does the calculation for you and your opponent #And you'll never know unless you go hunt it down so this calculator is just letting you play a fun pet game on it's time! What a lad #Gods I love this game I'm literally so excited to keep working on my tabletop version there's just so many good design elements #I'm gonna buy stickers just you watch me #WPPkmn #WPVG

#My art #Pixel art #Pokemon #Pokemon Homestyle #I tried to mimic the Pokemon pixel style but it's not quite exact :P #I just can't commit to a fully dark pixel outline I am not that strong uou #I got the overworld sprite from a template but I made their fullbody from scratch!#Referenced off Blue's sprite but still original uwu #They carry their team (and any spare Pokeballs up to six) on a little stick-on belt like a dork lol #And then the Pokeball higher up on their shirt is just a decal #Aren't they cute I love them ♥#I should deconstruct their outfit at some point that sounds fun #I also had to turn up the contrast a looooot for their Trainer Card lol they have such a light palette #Where those dark outlines would've been useful!#WPPkmn #WPVG

Rival Adventures

#Doodles #Pokemon #Pokemon Homestyle #Mostly Percy but a little bit of Ethan too!#I thought it was quite interesting that ma decided to immediately choose to go antagonistic hehe #She heard ''rival'' and was like ''I can work with that''#So mean to my new NPC child! Lol #I really do like Percy #Leaf liked 'em too so that's cool :D #I am hoping that if we do end up continuing that Percy and Ethan can reconcile and become friendly rivals #Also if I may say so I think my first Trainer battle between Ethan and Percy was ✨perfect✨#They challenged him since he chose Charmander so Squirtle had the advantage - but also because they're established rivals #And when he initially turned them down they countered by betting the amount of prize money they'd normally be expected to give #And that's when he accepted #I could not be happier about that it's so organic ♪#Also they did pick up Spout around the end of the session and hold her like a baby haha #Poor Ethan tried but kept getting burnt by Charm hehe #So cute ♥#WPPkmn #WPVG

I use the Training screen to keep track of how many eggs need to be hatched yet for binge-session egg hatching and I looked down at the sprites and was wildly confused by the weirdest looking mawile sprite I’d ever seen
