ignoring the pull to turn and leave is harder than he'd thought . perhaps the time spent contemplating how precisely to word his request had amplified his anxiety too much . he should have just asked when the idea sprang to mind , acted on it immediately and that would have been that . but , like an idiot , he'd stepped back for careful contemplation , thought it over in too much detail ; now the ordeal unnerves him .

@wr1tten. emma isn't wrong, but that doesn't mean jordan wants to think about it. they really can't imagine losing ... any of these people, especially since they've already lost cate which was unexpected. jordan hadn't thought cate was on the dark side of all this, hell, they hadn't thought there was a dark side to this level. and they'd fallen for it all. ❝ sounds like we just have to ... make sure that doesn't happen. ❞ jordan made it sound like it was that simple ... even though they knew it wasn't. ❝ we've lost enough. ❞
